Mammography Tech - PRN
Our mammography business is growing and we’re looking to expand hours! We’re looking for an experienced Mammography Tech to join our team and pick up some hours on Saturdays- shifts can vary. The schedule can be flexible for the right person.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. May assist physician with performing interventional procedures including fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
Participates in ensuring compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicable accrediations.
Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s), biopsies, stereotactic and special procedures. Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.
Keeps current with BiRad and follow-ups on all patients.
Follows Infection Control and radiation safety guidelines.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: X Two years of college X Preferred
X Associate’s degree X Preferred
X Graduate of a Program in Discipline X Required
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Ability to quickly learn how to navigate multiple complex software systems. Must be able to communicate with the ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to successfully complete Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
Certifications:X Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
Licenses:Current Radiation Operator Certificate in the state of Kentucky; Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiography in Mammography
Minimum Work Experience: Previous experience in radiology and mammography required.Previous experience in CT preferred.
