Robert Half is looking for an ambitious Controller to join a well-respected Logistics/Transportation company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. What you get to do every day


- Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll


- Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities


- Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis


- Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed


- Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies


- Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team


- Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts


- Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management


- Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques


- Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month


- Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

- Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

- Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

- Be detailed, flexible, and organized

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

- Wide ranging experience with Annual Audited Financial Statements

- Month-end Reports experience

- Proven knowledge of Monthly Accruals

- General familiarity with Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliation

- Quality experience with Audited Financial Statements

- Good understanding of Financial Statement Audits

- Comprehension of Analyze Financial Statements

- Comprehensive knowledge of month end closings

- Experience with CPA

- Experience with Month-end Financial

- Month-end Journal Entries experience

- Month-end Close Activities experience preferred

- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV

- Skills in financial statements consolidation

- Well-founded grasp of Monthly Balance Sheet

- Earlier work involving Financial Statement

- Previous experience working with financial statement preparation

- Practical knowledge of Consolidated Financial Statements

- Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well

- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

- Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

- Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
