Location: DC SAFE Administrative Office

Reports to: Finance Grants Manager

Language Proficiency: Spanish

Schedule: Monday - Friday -We are working in the office and remotely: Temporarily due to COVID-19. Please note that to minimize the spread of COVID-19, DC SAFE employees are currently teleworking and in the office. This position will be expected to work from the DC SAFE Washington, DC administrative office.

Accounting Assistant Job Description DC SAFE of Washington DC, a Domestic Violence Organization, is
seeking a skilled Accounting Assistant to join our team. The Accounting Assistant will assist the Finance
department with data entry of budget coordination, program cost tracking, and client Emergency
Financial Assistance. Administrative support to the Finance Committee with coordinating meetings and
minutes and undertaking the clerical task(s) such as data entry, maintaining ledger for various Local and
Federal Government accounts, filing, making phone calls, tracking AP/AR, and tracking program cost. AA
will also deal with customers and external partner agencies to rectify any issues with emergency
assistance for our Domestic Violence Clients.

Job Description:
● Assist in data entry of EFA documents into a spreadsheet
● Tracking/coordinating emergency services documentation for clients
● Communicate with other departments and partner agencies regarding aging Accounts Receivables
● Create Invoices for EFA
● Using bookkeeping databases, spreadsheets, and software to data enter information
Data
● Posting financial transactions in databases
● Receiving and recording vouchers, cash, and checks
● Checking for accuracy in reports, figures, and postings
● Reconciling and reporting any discrepancies found in the records
● Interacting with management, vendors, and partner agencies
● Data Entry and other accounting duties
● Create Journal Entries for grant re-allocations
● Assist with Budget, annual budget
● Finance Committee Meeting Coordination Requirements:
● Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
● Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
● Recent and relevant accounting or medical billing experience

● Comprehensive knowledge of databases or Microsoft Excel
● Fully formed organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
● Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
● Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
● Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

Qualifications:
● 2 years of Accounting or medical billing background preferred
● Associates degree preferred
● Must be comfortable compiling numbers
● Cost entry experience required
● Attention to detail, strong time management, collaborative
● Attend Board meetings and take minutes as appropriate
