Inventory Controller



Job Description

Purpose : Responsible for keep track of receiving materials, parts from vendors ensuring that required material/documents are supplied, inventory controlling and shipping finished goods to customers as scheduled.

Essential functions:

• Perform shipping and receiving duties

• Maintain the company stockroom through organizing, cleaning and cataloging items on a regular basis:

• Support the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base

• Responsible to make arrangements for pick-up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions

• Must report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor

• Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times

• Handle issues arising in shipping or inventory handling

• Trouble shoots shipping issues and customer complaints that arise and work to solve them

• Keep files of goods shipped and received by preparing regular shipping and receiving reports for managers

• Place merchandise in a warehouse or storage facility by packaging, lifting items as necessary, operating forklifts and pallet jacks for large goods

• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations

Minimum qualifications:

• Ability to perform but not limited to the following tasks, be familiar with and able to interpret packing slips, enter into the computer the correct information, to acknowledge receipt of the goods into the purchase order and processing database

• Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers

• Must be capable of estimating weight, and use that information to calculate the cost of shipping

• Must be familiar with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

• Good organization and administrative skills

• Mathematical and analytical skills

• Detail-oriented and multitasking skills

• Ability to operate warehouse machinery such as forklifts

• Ability to work in a team environment

Experience/Education:

• Minimum of a high school education

• One year of factory related experience in shipping and receiving

• Experience with UPS/FEDEX online software

Working conditions:

• Required to lift up to 50 lbs

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to perform repetitive motions; to sit, stand, bend, reach, talk, hear and move around the facility

• May need to drive to deliver/pickup materials

• Work performed in a combination of shop and office environments

• Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils

• 8 scheduled hours a day, five days a week. May work over-time if scheduled'
