The VP, Data Sales will lead the sales strategy for GumGum's contextual intelligence technology business,Verity. With a focus on creating new opportunities for the Verity platform business with agencies and brands, the sales leader will partner across the sales team to grow the pipeline and manage senior-level relationships with media holding companies, trading desks and brands. The VP will also be instrumental in developing new deal structures and creative packaging of offerings to elevate our partnerships with agencies and brands.
To be successful in this role, the VP will be analytically-driven as well as a creative problem solver who has experience overseeing data sales efforts for a pre bid data provider or equivalent, and has a proven track record of putting deals together with brands and agencies. It is paramount that the VP be resourceful and collaborative with agency and brand clients, as well as managed services sellers in North America.
Reporting to the Head of Verity, the VP will serve a key leader within the broader GumGum organization to further our contextual technology solutions.
Note: GumGum currently operates in a 'work from home' virtual environment with sporadic opportunities for in-person business and morale events (health guidelines permitting). There will not be any requirement to go into the office on a daily basis moving forward. GumGum is only open to hiring remote candidates who are residents in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and MN, however prefers candidates to be located in New York.

Responsibilities
- Sales Strategy:
- Refine the go-to-market strategy in North America for Verity focused on the agency and brand market.
- Develop target accounts, solution packages, and measurement frameworks for campaign ROI.
- Lead, negotiate and execute new sales opportunities for Verity SaaS solutions, pre-bid data and contextual video PMPs with agencies and brands.
- In partnership with marketing, sales, and Verity Sales Development Reps, develop a pipeline to support quota and goals for the Verity agency and brand business.
- Partner with the GumGum Sales and Partnerships team to develop new leads and opportunities for the Verity business.
- Drive distribution of the Verity platform with target programmatic partners.
- Industry Leadership:
- Serve as the evangelist with agencies and brands in support of the Verity platform.
- Educate the market on contextual solutions to drive Verity adoption.
- Drive advocacy with brands and agencies to future programmatic partners to enable the Verity prebid solution.
- End-to-End Customer Success:
- Work with the product, legal, and customer success team to streamline the sales and onboarding process for agencies and brands.
- Partner with agencies and brands to drive new media investments in Verity to programmatic partners (i.e. DSPs and contextual video PMPs).
- Partner with marketing to develop a marketing strategy to build awareness and lead gen with buyers as part of our overall omnichannel strategy.
- Collect market data from agency and brand prospects and clients and work in partnership with the product team to further align the product with market needs.
- Work closely with the Customer Success team to educate them on agency and brand clients needs and goals to ensure alignment with our partners capabilities and future integration and training priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or similar
- 10+ years of work experience in selling data-driven or SaaS solutions in partnership with DSPs or other data solutions to agencies and brands with a deep understanding of digital marketing.
- 3+ years experience leading and negotiating SaaS product sales to senior agency and brand buyers.
- Advanced understanding of digital products & programmatic monetization
- Demonstrated ability to understand agency and brand requirements and develop solutions to support their needs
- Ability to develop, negotiate and close partnership agreements with agencies and brands
- Ability to develop compelling pitch documents and present confidently to prospects
- Advanced negotiation skills
- Ability to actively listen to client feedback & translate into product optimization
- Can work with a high degree of autonomy and ambiguity
- Leads and adjusts through changing work environment
- Able to be flexible to agency and brand demands while still meeting commercial outcomes for GumGum
- Generates innovative solutions and ideas to creatively execute with publishers
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM Systems
- Ability to create and articulate technology driven solutions to agencies and brand teams
- Growth mind-set and focus on execution
- Comfortable with an unstructured role that requires frequent changes in prioritization of time and focus, in a fast-paced environment
- Ownership mentality and proven ability to get things done without dedicated resources or oversight
