Save the Children is seeking an Advisor, Monitoring and Evaluation to develop and implement strategies for quantifying and measuring progress and outcomes for a portfolio of programs, pilots and initiatives. You will work closely with program design and implementation teams to develop appropriate monitoring tools to use evidence to improve program quality. You will be responsible for overseeing data collection, conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, and developing and communicating a variety of reports and dashboards.

What Youll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Monitoring and Evaluation Planning (35%)

  • Facilitate the design of logic models and evaluation frameworks for assigned programs

  • Advise program design teams in selecting indicators and setting ambitious yet realistic indicator targets to measure program progress and achievements with a focus on outcomes for children

  • Inform the design, development, and maintenance of data collection systems

  • Design other data collection instruments including survey questionnaires and protocols for interviews and observations

Data Collection and Monitoring (45%)

  • Monitor the implementation of assigned programs, overseeing the collection of program data in an effective but efficient manner that aligns with US Programs Divisional practice

  • Provide technical assistance to field staff about the proper use of data collection tools

  • Review data collected and reported from program staff and partner organizations; validating, cleaning, and analyzing program data routinely and/or as needed

  • Conduct data quality assessments to identify and address data quality problems

  • As needed, conduct on-site assessments, surveys and/or other data collection efforts.

Reporting and Evaluation (30%)

  • Lead data aggregation, analysis, and visualization to identify program needs, document program progress, and inform real-time decision-making

  • Contribute data, language and visual elements for internal and external reports and presentations

  • Lead internal, and coordinate external, evaluations for assigned program portfolio, ensuring proper methodology is used, deliverables are met, and practices meet ethical requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Demonstrated experience with data collection, program monitoring, analysis, reporting and visualization

  • A minimum of intermediate qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis skills

  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite, advanced proficiency in excel

  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with R, STATA, Power BI, and/or Tableau

  • Experience with food assistance or emergency response programs

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically to emergency responses up to 4 weeks at a time
