The Liability Driven Investment (LDI) business utilizes the breadth and depth of the entire fixed income platform when delivering investment solutions for our clients. BlackRock has been running LDI mandates for over 25 years, and we are passionate about crafting and implementing fixed income solutions to help institutional clients meet their long-term investment objectives. We are an investment team with offices located in New York, Atlanta, San Francisco, London, Gurgaon, and Budapest split across Client Portfolio Management and Core Portfolio Management sub-teams.

The Fixed Income departments at BlackRock, part of the comprehensive Portfolio Management Group (PMG), manage more than $2.5 trillion in fixed income assets across index, active, and the $300+ billion global liability driven strategies business.

The Client Portfolio Management team, within the LDI business, is responsible for the design, development and support of LDI solutions to institutional investors. The team is also the primary contact point for clients and consultants on all matters related to an LDI mandate.


The team works closely with portfolio management partners across the Fixed Income platform who are responsible for trade construction and implementation of LDI portfolios. The Client Portfolio Manager plays a lead role in designing and delivering LDI strategies for our North American clients.


What will you be doing?
  • Engage with existing and prospective pension clients to understand the nature of the client's investment problem and their outcome objectives
  • Create and deliver client and prospect presentations on topics including risk management, risk budgeting, asset allocation, and portfolio construction, in an asset-liability framework
  • Day-to-day client engagement (i.e. delivering portfolio and market updates, resolving client inquiries, training and educating)
  • Participate in commercial strategy for individual client engagements, as well as contribute to business development, thought leadership and overall brand strategy across the business
  • Contribute to new product design, as well as the improvement of existing product offerings and servicing
  • Compose articles and white papers on relevant market and strategic topics of interest
  • Develop working knowledge of Aladdin, BlackRock's comprehensive risk management and portfolio management system, in order to efficiently deliver customized client analysis and reporting

What are we looking for?
  • 3 - 7 years of relevant experience (ideally asset management, risk management, consulting, banking or actuarial services), working with institutional corporate pension fund or insurance clients
  • Excellent communication skills verbally and in writing; capable of explaining sophisticated concepts in simple terms
  • Relationship building excellence, internally and externally
  • Technical and fixed income market knowledge, problem-solving skills
  • Commercial dexterity
  • Ability to build and contribute toward team cohesiveness and highest performance
  • Delivery of a top-quality client experience
