What does an IT Project Manager at CNB do?
As an IT Project Manager at CNB, you would take charge at leading our teams to design and implement solutions that would make us the best bank for our customers. You would spearhead project teams and act as a consultant, coach, and leader.
You would lead the project team to ensure the goals of the project are delivered on time and within budget. Being curious and inquisitive will help you understand the needs of each business line and manage the project from beginning to end. A successful IT Project Manager would understand the business needs, and balance that with technical knowledge to create the best solution for the challenge at hand.
This position would work with all levels of the organization and key stakeholders, including our Executive Team. Managing expectations and timeline are keys to success in this role.
Essential Duties
- Responsible for the delivery of technology and business projects in support of strategic objectives.
- Manages and coordinates major systems and business projects, providing tactical and strategic input to the project.
- Collaborates with Line of Business leaders and other project participants to plan project schedules, allocate resources, and ensure projects are on time and within budget.
- Utilize technical and business expertise to resolve issues to ensure project goals and requirements are met, communicate with appropriate management, and staff, and provide periodic reports.
- Maintains proper documentation and reporting, ensuring all proper requirements and supporting development deliverables are accounted for and well documented.
- Initiates, compiles, audits and assembles all project resources and reporting materials for key stakeholders.
- Evaluates project risk, changes and issues, including development of contingency plans and solution and process alternatives.
- Ensures all project participants have all the tools and information needed to perform their project tasks.
- Ensures that the project complies with IT Project Life Cycle methodology. This includes ensuring “gates” at various critical milestones are in place and formal sign-off is obtained from Executive sponsors.
- Communicates project schedule and status, key accomplishments, upcoming tasks, and any risks or issues involved with the projects.
- Monitors issues between projects and resolves project conflict.
- Participate in contract negotiations with vendors.
- Conducts project Post Implementation Reviews and documents knowledge gained on the project in accordance with prescribed practices.
- Assist the PMO Director and PMO Operations Manager in continuous improvement of PMO processes.
- Adheres to the Bank’s Information Security Policies and Procedures and ensures that all projects adhere to them, including new or upgraded software applications.
- Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of PMO standards, processes, and tools.
What competencies are needed to successful in this role?
- Strong project management skills including the ability to lead cross-functional teams, build commitment and overcome resistance from others, and proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Able to manage multiple, complex projects concurrently, with minimal direct supervision, to achieve scope, schedule, and cost objectives.
- Highly organized with excellent analytical, communication, facilitation, and project leadership skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and at appropriate level of summary and detail across multiple organizational levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field normally required. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in Information Technology related roles strongly preferred.
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience in managing complex IT projects strongly preferred.
- PMP certification highly desired.
- Prior experience in banking/financial industry highly desired.
What does a successful first year in this position look like?
- Manage multiple complex projects using structured methodology (Waterfall, Agile, PMBOCK, etc.).
- Implement mission-critical business applications, multiple complex application integrations, hosted or SaaS solutions, and data conversions
- Advance and Improve upon our Project Management Office (PMO) processes, procedures, and tools.
- Continue to develop our Project Portfolio Management software (Workfront), and other project management and reporting tools.
- Prepares and supports those affected by change.
