Tableau Software Engineer

Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City Data management and analytics are growing areas of emphasis across the Federal Reserve System. As a software engineer within the Data Utility Office, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team delivering data centric products and platforms to support business line objectives. You will fuel a thriving user community by leading user group meetings, producing helpful content/resources, facilitating customer onboarding, and providing technical support across the Tableau ecosystem. You will also promote a resilient Tableau Server environment by contributing to process improvement initiatives related to automation, system health and performance monitoring, as well as software and infrastructure currency (both on-prem and in the cloud). This role requires versatility, a drive to learn, a relentless commitment to customer service, and the ability to work well in a diverse and cross-functional team. Projects will range in duration and complexity, and they will require direct consultation with business partners, technical subject matter experts, and IT service providers.
Key Activities include but are not limited to:
- Applies the principles of software engineering to the design, implementation, configuration, and optimization of solutions in support of applications, databases, and test automation tools.
- Provides technical support across the Tableau product ecosystem (Tableau Server, Tableau Desktop, and Tableau Prep Builder).
- Performs or facilitates installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting and optimization of a multi-node Tableau Server environment.
- Provide end user support related to the development, publishing, and optimization of visualizations, dashboards, workbooks, and Prep flows.
- Enhances customer engagement by building relationships and actively participating in our user communities and customer success calls.
Key Characteristics & Job Requirements:
- 1-3 years of relevant experience required.
- 1-3 years of experience with Tableau Server & Tableau Desktop and Tableau certifications strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise related to data visualization and data management strongly preferred.
- Experience writing and maintaining production python code and SQL queries strongly preferred.
- Experience with AWS or other public cloud providers strongly preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to end-users via formal presentations and informal coaching/consultation.
- Ability to work effectively as part of self-directed team and collaborate with other delivery teams to achieve unit objectives.
- Ability to work independently and with general supervision and direction. May consult with more senior staff in decision making.
- Bachelor’s degree specializing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), or a closely related field, from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience.
- May require some weekend or evening hours.
The primary desired work location for this position is Kansas City. We offer employees the flexibility to work from home up to 80 percent of the time, depending on specific team needs.
