The Associate Director will be responsible for leading the management of external facing analytics for Optum Behavioral Health Solutions. The work will focus on conducting analysis and identifying behavioral trends on internal and external claim data sources to create analytics, metrics visualizations, and develop insights for presentations, RFIs, RFPs, whitepapers and other collateral as needed. This role will partner with stakeholders and subject matter within Product, Strategy, Clinical and other experts to help guide data requirements and a framework to accomplish assignments. The position will require both quantitative and qualitative skills to build and develop analytics on current behavioral health topics by utilizing Behavioral, Medical and Pharmacy claims data.

Primary Responsibilities:




  • Collect data independently from databases via SAS programming language

  • Perform analysis, interpret results, aggregate data into meaningful summaries or data visualizations

  • Identify, monitor, and analyze principal behavioral health cost drivers

  • Stay abreast of internal and external behavioral trends

  • Develop innovative approaches

  • Review the work of others for quality and consistency

  • Sought out as expert

  • Serve as a leader/mentor

Required Qualifications:




  • Undergraduate degree in applicable area of expertise or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of professional experience programming in SQL/SAS/Python etc

  • 5+ years of healthcare experience working with large data sets

  • Experience managing a small team




Preferred Qualifications:




  • Advanced degree MBA or MS in (bio) statistics, public health, health economics, mathematics, or similar quantitative field

  • Medical or Behavioral healthcare analytics experience

  • Excellent communication, time/project management, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills

  • Proven ability to organize, process and summarize healthcare claims data to identify trends, patterns, and outcomes in support of project initiatives

  • Proven consultation and relationship building skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple deliverables at once

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900.
