Compliance Manager

The Compliance Manager will work with a variety of departments throughout the organization, including accounting, winemaking, operations sales, and marketing, as well as third party consultants to ensure our organization remains compliant with all government regulations as they pertain to our wine operations.


Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain CA ABC and TTB permits and update as needed.
  • Track all out of state licenses direct to consumer, wholesale and salesman and renew as needed.
  • Apply for and track all COLAs and advise if new COLAs are needed for wine sold both domestically and internationally.
  • Track all products and where they are registered and renew as needed based on the needs of the sales team.
  • Update FDA registration every 2 years as required or as needed.
  • File out of state shipment reports for out of state wholesale and direct ship licenses. Including but not limited to sales/use tax & excise taxes.
  • Stay up to date on out of state regulations for out of state shipment reports and licenses.
  • Keep DTC team updated with all state shipping regulations for DTC shipments.
  • File fictitious business name registrations and renewals on an as needed basis.
  • Handles all officer changes/updates ensuring the organization is compliant with state and federal agencies
  • Prepare semi-monthly TTB Excise Tax reports, and monthly California Wine Grower tax reports with corresponding payments. This includes a review of the activity, reconciliation of case goods, and preparation of supporting calculations.
  • Work collaboratively with the winemaking team to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of our monthly wine premise operations reports.
  • Maintain positive rapport with the TTB and other similar governmental agencies.


Requirements

  • Wine industry experience required; proven experience overseeing a wide variety of compliance matters in the wine industry with 5+ years preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the wine industry's standards, laws, and regulations
  • Detail oriented and ability to anticipate, plan and remain organized.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, strong Excel skills highly preferred
  • Excellent professional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proactive nature with sufficient relevant experience to operate with minimal direction
  • A business acumen partnered with a positive attitude and high level of integrity
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills coupled with ability to effectively research to fill-in knowledge gaps and comprehend new/updated regulations.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.


Working Conditions

  • Regular working schedule to include weekdays. Some weekends, nights, and holidays may be required during peak seasons and special events.
  • Sitting for long periods of time (8 hours per day).
