Job Description:

We are seeking a Roofing Failure Analyst in our accredited testing laboratory located in Coppell, Texas. This high-level position will provide leadership and management of all roofing lab functions and lab personnel including materials testing, research, and business management.

Our roof testing lab is accredited by the International Accreditation Service and is compliant with the ISO/IEC Standard 17025:2017. Our laboratory is able to support testing of roofing products and analyses of roofing damage through testing such as desaturation analysis, magnification and back-lighting analysis, water column testing, impact testing, and thermal performance testing.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs and oversees materials testing and forensic lab analyses involving roofing related materials.
  • Hires, trains, develops, and manages staff as needed to perform laboratory analysis.
  • Serves as Engineer of Record for lab testing assessments and associated reporting.
  • Identifies opportunities for research and product testing and writes grant proposals as needed.
  • Conducts research and generates publications thereof.
  • Serves as high profile name and face of the Roofing Lab, both internally and externally, to enhance the lab brand and further the opportunities for research and testing.
  • Maintains laboratory accreditations as needed.
  • Collaborates with other company leaders to further develop the forensic roofing and testing practice.


Attributes & Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred but not required with appropriate experience, licensing and training.
  • PE license is preferred but not required based on relevant experience.
  • 15 or more years of experience closely tied to the roofing industry, involving some combination of building enclosure specification, roofing construction, forensic evaluation of roofing damage, and/or laboratory testing of roofing specimens and assembly of components.
  • Proficiency in administering and implementing ASTM, UL and FM testing standards for roofing material and products, and evaluation and reporting of test results
  • Proficiency in building codes, acceptance criteria for roofing specimens, and the evaluation of product specifications
  • Well established technical writing ability
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • A desire to learn, excel and grow with us and within the profession
