Job Description
A Bottling Line Maintenance Mechanic level II must be knowledgeable of bottling line equipment operations, safety, and repair. Mechanic should have an advanced knowledge of mechanical and troubleshooting skills. Must possess a basic skillset of electrical and process control. This position requires the ability to work any shift as directed by Management. Must be committed to help out in any way to reaching all production efficiency requirements. Must be able to work and communicate with all Supervisors, Machine Attendants, Machine Operators, Cellar Operators, Forklift Operators, and Managers, to ensure the highest possible production and efficiencies for the bottling lines. Must be able to adjust and respond to down equipment in a timely manner as directed by management.
Essential Duties:
• Understand and comply with all ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP requirements and processes
• Able to understand all bottling line machinery and controls
• Must have basic mechanical / electrical troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of VFD’s(programming) and PLC controls (troubleshooting)
• Possess electrical diagnostic equipment common to the field.
• Knowledge of basic industrial electricity, 110v, 220v, and 480v three phase
• Communicate to Supervisors, Line Workers, Cellar, Quality Assurance (QA), SENIOR Management, and Co-workers
• Trouble-shoot and repair equipment safely
• Read and understand equipment manuals and drawings
• Report all parts used and needed for reordering to Storeroom Attendant
• Work effectively and remain calm in all situations
• Must be able to work independently of direct supervision
• Perform necessary change-over of the bottling line machinery and equipment in a timely manner
• Troubleshoot bottling line and make necessary repairs to keep it running as required
• Must have an advanced level knowledge of machine functions and repair techniques to complete assigned tasks with little or no supervision.
• Ability to navigate HMI’s to diagnose error codes and faults
• Replace or repair parts, motors, gearboxes, pneumatics, etc. to keep the bottling lines running efficiently and effectively
• Proper and safe use of a V.O.M. (Volt. OHM. Meter)
• Knowledge in Compressors, Dryers, Boiler Systems, Controls, and Ozone Generators
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and facility to keep all machinery in top working condition
• Must supply own hand tools and be able to carry a tool pouch weighing approximately 10 lbs.
• Must be able to wear company supplied uniforms
• Must maintain the maintenance turnover logbook
• Responsible for start-up after a changeover
• Must have basic welding skills (TIG, stick)
• Perform any other task as directed by your supervisor, lead, or manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
• Previous experience with heavy machines
• Previous experience in the wine industry or production
Knowledge of:
- Process equipment operation
- Practical welding and fabrication techniques
- Preventive maintenance schedules
- Equipment manuals and specifications
Ability to:
- Plan and schedule assigned duties
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Interact effectively with other workers and supervisors
- Work at various heights and awkward positions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Occasional stair climb
• Frequent walking
• Work in awkward positions (kneeling, lying down or squatting)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Moving machinery
• Occasional high noise level
• Exposure to solvents/chemicals
• Frequently working in outdoor climate
