Director of IT Infrastructure

Schurz Communications, Inc., a broadband and managed cloud services company, has an immediate opening for a Director of IT Infrastructure. This role will support other Schurz property security professionals and apply information security standards, best practices, architecture and technologies to improve information security operations including threat and vulnerability management within the Corporation.

The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $135,000 based upon experience and certifications. There is also potential for an annual bonus based upon the completion of assigned goals.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage IT infrastructure staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions
  • Act as a key infrastructure technical expert, addressing problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platform integration as they relate to infrastructure.
  • Provide technical design and deployment support on all Infrastructure related subjects.
  • Support ongoing development of future infrastructure architecture and strategy within the enterprise.
  • Assist in early research and deployment of pilot/prototype or early development projects within the infrastructure space to identify strengths/weaknesses of proposed new architecture or technology.
  • Assist with the creation and refinement of process and governance mechanisms.
  • Assist with the creation of strong business case artifacts for strategic infrastructure investment, in keeping with the organization's plans and strategy.
  • Assist with the analyzing current state and desired state of the Infrastructure
  • Develop gap analysis and migration plans as needed
  • Responsible for system designs, future network, root cause problem elimination and capacity planning of enterprise data center infrastructure
  • Define infrastructure requirements for the implementation of new applications
  • Manage infrastructure projects as required and provide project management support for critical projects.
  • Work in collaboration with other departments or organizations to develop and analyze systems in support of their projects or mission, then upgrade or enhance the infrastructure to meet these requirements
  • Interface with IT and business groups. Build business case around infrastructure requirements
  • Manage communication and coordination during infrastructure outage situations. Guide engineers from different groups to work together to resolve outages and restore business functionality as quickly as possible

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 7+ years management experience in highly scalable and highly available technology environment
  • Evaluate technologies for efficiencies, cost effectiveness and security; evaluate and implement new systems and infrastructures; discover and implement technology solutions
  • Communicate technology solutions and opportunities to senior leadership and staff as needed
  • Lead the planning, implementation, support, and maintenance of all hardware, software, and infrastructure used for network, communications, compute, memory, application delivery, and endpoints
  • Lead the technical design, maintenance, and operation of cloud-based platforms (primarily Azure but also AWS, Google Cloud, and others)
  • Proven success building and scaling IT Infrastructure, including progressive hands-on experience in 1 or more areas – cloud platforms, systems, networking, identity access management, security.
  • Strong technical skills and ability to guide the team in systems design, cross-functional architectural review, performance analysis, emerging technologies evaluations, migrations, etc
  • Provide leadership and guidance to technical teams regarding architectural and procedural best practices
  • In depth knowledge of TCP / IP network
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and ability to handle multiple, complex, long term projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations
  • CCNP, MCSE, VCP or Azure certifications
  • Excellent written and communication skills

Even Better If You Have:

  • Microsoft Azure / Office 365, Azure Active Directory experience
  • Experience with Microsoft servers and applications including: Windows Server, DHCP, DNS, IIS, Active Directory, and ADFS
  • Familiarity with Cisco and Meraki products and VMware vSphere environments
  • Citrix XenApp / Citrix Cloud experience
  • Knowledge of SAN technologies including ISCSI and FCOE
  • Ability to analyze problems and propose solutions.
  • Innovative thinking and vision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
