SUMMARY/ OBJECTIVE

The Supplier Quality Engineer is a key factory staff member responsible for developing and maintaining programs, processes and metrics that support Quality Assurance program within Kimber Manufacturing. The Supplier Quality Engineer will work in concert with cross-functional teams and other departments to provide support in achieving quality goals defined and established by upper management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support all initiatives of Quality Assurance department
  • Review and assess supplier’s manufacturing processes and practices as part of initial supplier evaluation.
  • Evaluate supplier’s APQP, PPAP and FMEA
  • Active participation in supplier approval process.
  • Active participation in the development of a supplier rating system, maintain and update such system.
  • Identify improvement opportunities through continuous monitoring of supplier quality data.
  • Direct involvement in all supplier related quality issues, communicate discovered non-conformities, request RCA, CAPA and follow up on their effectiveness.
  • Schedule and perform supplier audits as required.
  • Work with Product Development Engineering to ensure respective supplier’s processes, technologies and capabilities are adequate to fulfill product requirements.
  • Facilitate correlation of inspection data and support inspection department with FAI approval process.
  • Assist with development of process documentation, and control plans for new and existing products.
  • Prepare monthly supplier performance reports based on quality and delivery.
  • Active participation in Material Review Board (MRB) activities
  • All other tasks assigned by department management.

  • Demonstrable track record over a minimum of 5 years of successfully working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of general manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Engineering documentation understanding and interpretation.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP and FMEA
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T.
  • Strong measurement techniques skills using various types of inspection equipment.
  • Strong statistical analyses skills
  • Six Sigma Knowledge
  • ISO 9001 knowledge and experience
  • Cross-functional team player
  • Proficient with Microsoft office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • BS in Quality, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret quality performance reports and create solutions. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as rating systems and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Required knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word using MS Windows platform. Other MS Office program experience and use of Minitab is preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position will require travel as required

Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts, overtime before and after shifts and on weekends. Ability to work as part of a team, including all related departments/plants or independently as required to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.

WORK AUTHORIZATION

This position requires compliance with ITAR requirement. Must be a “U.S. Person” (per ITAR 120.15) and are required to show proof substantiating this upon being hired.
