We are looking for a Senior Manager to lead and support our growing Solution Engineering (SE) team. As product experts and outstanding communicators, our SEs partner with sales to help our customers and prospects make informed decisions about how to protect their valuable SaaS data. We approach each engagement with empathy, creativity and a genuine desire to help our customers and prospects succeed.
Your role will be to hire and onboard new talent to the team, develop and retain the existing SEs while partnering with all departments across OwnBackup to continue our trend of triple digit YoY growth.
This is a demanding role which requires leadership, empathy and interpersonal skills.
Your Day-to-Day Role
Your responsibilities will fall into three main areas:
Recruitment and ramping
This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work out of our San Diego, CA office to maximize collaboration and interaction with the business. OwnBackup is a global team, and as we’re looking for top-talent, for the right candidate there may be an opportunity to work remotely in the following states: CA, FL, GA, IL, MA, PA, WA, TX.

Your Day-to-Day Role
Your responsibilities will fall into three main areas:
Recruitment and ramping
- Proactively identify potential candidates to join the team and attract them to OwnBackup
- Partner with our recruiting team to guide candidates through hiring processes
- Coach candidates to drive positive outcomes through our hiring process
- Make hiring decisions to bring the best candidates to OwnBackup
- Help new hires onboard, guiding them through learning and activities to integrate them in the team and accelerate productivity
- Directly lead a team of SEs that have fun winning together and are invested in each other’s success
- Support ongoing growth and development of all SEs on the team through coaching, career planning and regular feedback
- Coach the team towards meeting key performance metrics and goals and measure attainment
- Advocate for the SE organization across the company
- Contribute to the overall vision and strategy of the SE organization
- Work with your team to discuss, plan and implement process improvements
- Be willing to be a hands-on contributor, engage with customers and prospects and to ‘lead by example’
- Act as a technical executive to build important relationships with our customers and prospects
- Partner with sales leadership and other cross-functional teams to conceive of and execute strategies to drive ACV and prioritize resource investment
- Manage the security review process for prospects and existing customers by leading, responding, and reviewing team RFP/RFI/RFQs and information security questionnaires
- Work with our product and marketing teams to present feedback from prospects and customers to inform product roadmap and positioning
- 2+ years of Solution Engineering management experience preferably within a SaaS organization
- 5+ years of Solution Engineering experience preferably within a SaaS organization
- Solid understanding of Enterprise SaaS applications (particularly Salesforce) and collaboration technology
- Excellent coaching, writing, discovery and presentation skills
- Strong track record of defining and executing against key performance indicators
- Experience of operating successfully in high velocity sales environments
- Enthusiasm for increasing customer happiness and deepening customer relationships
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, supporting customers and marketing events
