Description

To set-up, service and break down assigned functions in a safe, accident-free manner according to standard policies and procedures, while providing the highest level of service to our guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Read and understand banquet event order (BEO) and know the proper way to complete the room set-up as indicated.
  • Set tables as assigned correctly and uniformly.
  • Keep station neat and clean while servicing guest per established policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Assist with food and beverage service, as required. Carry coffee pots and beverages throughout the room, refilling guests' cups and glasses as needed or requested.
  • Assist Lead Banquet Server or Banquet Captain in setting up/breaking down buffet or other special food service tables and equipment.
  • Greet and serve guests following guidelines set by the policies/procedures regarding the service of food and beverage.
  • Ensure the delivery of food and / or other items to the banquet room and guest table is done in a timely manner.
  • Serve guests in a warm, polite and professional manner.
  • Take drink orders, open wine bottles and serve alcoholic beverages in a professional manner; following the STAR Training for responsible alcohol server guidelines.
  • Follow all guest check and money-handling procedures when serving a-la-carte and beverage orders.
  • Ensure the proper handling of food safety guidelines are followed by self and team members.
  • Complete all side work as assigned.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the additional supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
  • Know the beverage menu for each function and the ingredients and preparation methods in order to prepare beverages to be served as specified.
  • Know and use "Suggestive Selling" techniques in order to up-sell whenever possible.


Qualifications

Education: High School education or equivalent.

California Food Handler's Certification.

STAR - Alcohol Server Training Certification.

Experience: Two years hotel banquet service/bartending service preferred.

Skills and Abilities: Able to read, speak and write English; Able to lift, push, pull and carry 20 - 40 lbs.
