Job Details
- Responsible for Food Safety and to initiate action if any food safety problems arise
- A HACCP team member
- Ensure compliance for regulations
- Responsible for the development, management, enhancement, coordination, communication and validation as the SQF practitioner of quality systems (SQF Code Edition 8.0) to ensure compliance to customer, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
- Plan, organize, control and coordinate activities for the QA Department
- Responsible for all segments of the QA functions either directly or through subordinates
- Interface with all departments’ managers to assure that the products, plant operations and facility are compliant with the company and regulatory agencies standards.
- Keeps QA Director informed about problems and opportunities for improvements.
- Assists the QA Director in continuous improvement efforts and follow up on corrective action implementation.
- Ensure that all department personnel are using proper procedures, work instructions, forms, tools and equipment established for the duties they perform.
- Perform quality audits
- May also engage in the same work as the employees they supervise.
- Release of products packed under pH control
- Provide employees trainings to promote and ensure the hygienic handling of products and other sanitary requirements including HACCP, SSOps, and GMPs.
- Provide communication regarding food safety and quality related issues to management
- Participate in 3rd party audits and provide documented corrective action
- Assists in managing the performance and development of the Plant QA Department with respect to skills, objectives and etc.
- Prepare and distribute Hold and Incident reports. Compile information and create reports; maintains the Hold and Release records and reporting
- Weekly review/reconciliation of all incoming material reports and WIPS places on hold
- Investigate and respond to customer complaints by checking production records and retention samples
- Keep updated file on returned goods
Years of Experience 5 years in an FDA regulated business (food, pharmaceuticals, medical)
Education Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology or a related discipline
- Knowledge of food process operations including all thing related to GMPs, HACCP, and Quality Assurance
- Ability to develop a deep knowledge of Company’s manufacturing process and products.
- Familiarity with the FDA and ISDA and other food labeling policies
- An extensive knowledge of SPC, SQC and GFSI
- Bilingual (English\Spanish) speaker preferred
