Bartender - Augie's Tavern
Job Purpose
Our bartenders are responsible for exceeding guest expectations in food and beverage by providing the highest level of consistent professional service. Augie's bartenders are responsible for preparing and serving beverages to guests in a friendly, courteous and timely manner. Our staff are friendly, outgoing, possess good communication skills, organized and able to think and act quickly and effectively while maintaining high standards of service. Augie's bartenders work with a teamwork mentality by offering support to all other colleagues in the bar area as well as The Statehouse restaurant.
Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Mix, garnish and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks for patrons of the bar and dining room following standard recipes
- Have complete knowledge of the Augie's Tavern/Statehouse Restaurant's food and beverage preparation
- Able to interact with guests in a friendly/fast manner
- Understanding of all cashiering procedures and the handling of all payment methods
- Maintain specific side-work and ensure the total cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant
- Ability to clear and reset tables
- Check identification of guests to ensure guests are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages. Refuse to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age
- All guests must be treated in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction. Always strive to exceed guests' expectations
- Always promote and maintain a positive working relationship with all the Colleagues of The Edgewater
- Consistently offer professional, friendly, and warm hospitality to all guests
- Attend required training sessions and be aware of any changes to menus, hotel and departmental policies and procedures, service standards as well as business trends and requirements
- Ability to guide guest through menu, making suggestions and recommendations in the guests' interest
- Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in agreement with The Edgewater and Boathouse's standards
- Ensure work areas and stations are kept clean and tidy at all times
- Attend pre-shift, weekly and monthly meetings to ensure knowledge of all events, promotions and other news concerning all food and beverage outlets and The Edgewater
- Understanding how to operate all the equipment used in the restaurant.
- Actively participate in and follow all health and safety policies and procedures set out for The Edgewater
- Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality
- Polish all glassware and responsible for sanitation in and around the bar area
- Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control
- Inputs orders into the point of sale and creates a check for each guest and personnel guests, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served
- Retrieve and store bar glassware to proper storage
- Wash and sterilize stemware
- Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Must be 18 or older
- Must be available for a minimum of 3 shifts per week
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and public holidays
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player attitude
- Willingness to learn new concepts and ideas
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers and management
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve customer issues or complaints
- Must be able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently
- Must have excellent working knowledge of liquors, beers and wine
- Have ability to obtain any government required license or certificate
- Ability to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50lbs
- 2+ years bartending experience, preferably in a high-volume banquet, or hotel environment. (Preferable)
Conditions
This job operates behind the bar and in the restaurant and may be working in close proximity to co-workers. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. This position requires evening/weekend work and some outdoor conditions. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching. The position may require occasional lifting of products weighing up to 50 pounds.
