Transportation Manager

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all the inbound and outbound company transportation activity; leading, developing, and implementing processes that will drive long term service optimization and streamline shipments to customers.
• Manage carrier contracts, assist in shipping claims, analyze data, monitor carrier performance, monitor international shipment activity, and provide internal guidance on logistical supply chain matters.
• Ensures compliance with national and international regulations for the transportation of goods by air, ocean, railroad and off-road.
• Exports/ Imports: Develop, implement and monitor process to control shipment costs and minimize liability. NAFTA Certificates.
• Carrier management; determines most efficient and economical routing for outbound shipments.
• Manages carrier negotiations and relations to ensure competitive transportation rates, schedules, and routing that meet/exceeds customer expectations to increase market share.
• Develops strong business relationships with carriers, vendors, international custom-house brokers.
• Works closely with Warehouse Managers (NJ, GA) to effectively forecast, plan and prepare for ongoing transportation needs.
• Conducts ongoing analysis and monitoring of KPI’s to provide internal partners with clear metrics and accurate evaluations of carrier performance.
• Investigates and responds to resolve quality action requests and oversees the freight claim process.
• Drives cost-saving initiatives to align with strategic company initiatives.
• Conducts freight lane analysis to prioritize traffic opportunities to include factors such as customer locations, vendor’s locations, carrier capabilities, volumes, product considerations and other issues.
