Your Role

The Health Transformation Data & Evaluation team is committed to identifying, designing, implementing, evaluating, and launching innovations that transform health. Key to the goal of transforming health is creatively and effectively leveraging the power of data.. The Virtual Care Data Architecture and Implementation Principal will report to the Director, Health Data Strategy & Analytics. In this role you will deliver and collaborate on all aspects of virtual care strategy, business processes, as well as data and technical architectures. You will use your critical thinking, problem solving, and technical skills to design, develop, and deliver the data architecture and analytics necessary to drive informed decision-making. .

Your Work

In this role, you will:
  • Develop and conduct evaluations and studies within limited time frames and produce analyses that are easy for non-technical persons to understand
  • Apply advanced statistical methods, advanced analytics and modeling techniques, visualization techniques, and advanced programming to innovate our products and services
  • Identify how our customers are using our products to make strategic decisions and generate/implement ideas to improve our products and services to allow even better decision support
  • Work with business partners to engineer new products/services/analytics that will improve customer satisfaction; estimate the resources needed and provide planning and support for product/service innovation
  • Conduct proof of concept using techniques that can quickly contemplate the viability of a product/service
  • Participate as a lead or Subject Matter Experience (SME) and responsible for strategy, set-up and design of transformational data and technical architecture supporting virtual clinical care delivery
  • Project development involving cross-functional teams focused on delivery of internal products, programs, or administrative systems
  • Provide insights on highly complex topics, through the analysis and interpretation of data, in support of cross-functional business operations
  • Matrixing with executive leaders to establish core strategies and value propositions of innovation programs
  • Drive requirements discovery efforts with stakeholders and key business partners to identify and frame business challenges, insight needs, output needs, technical architecture, and project success criteria
  • Conduct proof of concept using techniques that can quickly contemplate the viability of a product/service
  • Monitors programs/projects from initiation through delivery and interfacing with internal and external customers and stakeholders
  • Apply and adopt Agile (SCRUM) methodologies to all programs and projects in close partnership with IT for integrating data from disparate systems while managing and monitoring ongoing projects to ensure alignment with Blue Shield of CA's strategy and company objectives, as well as interdependencies of other business units


Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires an MPH, MBA, MS, MA in science, social science, public health, health svcs research or business, or BA/BS with demonstrated equivalent work experience
  • Requires at least 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Requires at least 5 years of experience in Health Care (managed care, academic, or gov't payer)
  • Proven track record implementing technical and data architecture supporting transformational strategies especially in telehealth space
  • Working familiarity with healthcare payer industry, interoperability, personal health records, EMR and telehealth solutions
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with data architecture, clinical records integration, electronic medical records and CRM solutions
  • Familiarity with potential and challenges associated with various forms of clinical and non-clinical datasets
