The Office of the Vice President for Research (VPR) at Indiana University is responsible for research development, research compliance, and research administration. Working with university-wide offices, campus leaders and deans, the Vice President for Research Office works to increase and diversify research and creative activities at IU, attract external funding for these activities, and develop public-private partnerships, technology transfer, graduate education and intercampus research opportunities.
Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Video and Multimedia Production Assistant is to create videos for the Office of the Vice President for Research's (VPR) Campus Insights partnership with the Associated Press. As part of this program, IU experts are featured in short videos that are uploaded to the AP's Video Hub for distribution across the globe. This position will work closely with faculty, staff, and IU partners featured in the work. Work responsibilities may require travel between IU Bloomington and IUPUI.

This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs. This role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.This role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and to have good depth perception. This role requires the ability to travel within the state of Indiana. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Department Specific Responsibilities
- Identifies faculty experts, schedules interviews, conducts in-person interviews, edits and publishes visual materials.
- Tracks media hits resulting from video uploads, analyzes performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and finds opportunities for growth.
- Assists VPR's Video Production Manager with the creation and completion of video assets for VPR
- Works with VPR leadership to support priorities for video and audio communications.
- Generate creative visual content for high-profile IU research projects.
- Conduct sadditional photos, video and live event shoots for VPR as needed.
- Additional assignments may include photo galleries, partner video projects, social media video assets, creation of graphics and more.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in filmmaking, multimedia, fine arts, marketing, journalism, telecommunications, or related field.
Required
- Experience in all aspects of video production, including concept creation, writing, production planning, videography, recording, editing and post production processes demonstrated by portfolio of material.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
- Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Required
- Proven experience in video production methods, processes and tools.
- Ability to adopt and integrate new tools and technologies.
- Possess high quality visual, strategy, conceptualization, project planning, and presentation skills
- Possess the ability to envision and integrate new technologies and processes into a creative, collaborative environment.
- Possess exceptional organizational skills with a firm understanding of the time it requires to complete various production tasks.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- Abilit to identify and be aware of, trending news topics.
- Ability to handle equipment including: DSLR and mirrorless camera systems; location lighting; independent sound capture equipment; standard office equipment; standard content management systems; video workstations; printing devices.
