Aircraft Maintenance Apprentices (Non-Certificated)

Position Overview:
- The Technician Apprentice shall either be currently enrolled in A&P classes/school and holding passing grades - or who has recently completed A&P Classes/school, and who holds either a current FAA "Airframe" or "Power plant" certificate.
- The candidate must also be planning to obtain the required certificate in the next 8 months, to have both the FAA Airframe and Power plant certificates.
- The apprentice shall work under the direct supervision of a STS certificated technician and shall not be assigned tasks to work alone.
- The apprentice shall follow instructions given by the certificated technician in all aspects of aircraft servicing and repair.
- The primary responsibility of the apprentice is to give his/her full attention and gain knowledge from the tasks performed with the certificated technician.
- When tasks are completed by the apprentice and he/she has demonstrated a learned skill the certificated technician shall sign off the apprentice as having passed that task on STS training form.
- Tasks shall include reading and understanding technical data, performing maintenance on operational aircraft and learning how to properly sign off aircraft log pages, task cards and other maintenance related documents.
- The apprentice shall be taught proper maintenance techniques and use of calibrated tools by certificated technicians to gain valuable experience in the field of aircraft repair.
- The apprentice is responsible for all safety, quality and training lessons given to them by STS and must abide by all policies and procedures of STS Line Maintenance, airlines, FAA regulations as well as any other agency regulations that may apply.
- The apprentice is responsible to the technician they are assigned while all designated tasks are completed using the most current acceptable data, procedures, under the limitations granted within the Repair Station’s Op Specs, customer’s policies and procedures and the limitation of the A&P.
- The apprentice shall ensure all required documentation, both internal and customer based, are current, correct and complete while performing document reviews under the instruction of a technician.
- The apprentice shall enter work tasks as instructed into the STS Work Order Report Processing (WORP), STS’s web based portal.
- The certificated technician that is assigned an apprentice is responsible for the apprentice at all times and under no circumstance shall the apprentice be assigned to work alone without supervision.
