Overview
HarperCollins Christian Publishing (HCCP) is seeking a VP, People to lead its People function. This position will report to HCCPs President and CEO.
A business minded individual with a clear vision and coaching mindset describes this leader. A collaborative yet decisive approach to identifying employee, business, and People team opportunities is a must. A solution oriented, skilled communicator with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills further describes this leader. In addition to aligning with HCCPs mission, values and content, this leader will need a flexible skill set, including the ability to think strategically, execute tactically, and establish alignment across many teams, levels, and situations.

Responsibilities
Your Areas of Ownership and Impact
Create and lead the overall People strategy in support of HCCPs business strategy. The People strategy must respond to internal and external drivers, challenges, existing practices and identify new and better ways of working
Work as an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team, providing mutual support and challenge, take responsibility as required to ensure positive teamwork and transparent and aligned communication to all stakeholders.
Create and maintain a pipeline of talent that meets current and future business needs by managing talent acquisition and development as a key strategy. This includes continued leadership in the areas of recruiting, coaching, development, succession planning and headcount management.
Utilize business knowledge and HR expertise to provide leadership in organizational design.
Able to lead, coach and mentor at all levels within the organization.
Provide leadership to ensure competitive and equitable pay and pay practices are maintained.
Key champion and leader in support of HCCPs culture. This includes finding innovative and impactful ways of sustaining culture in a hybrid, multi-site work environment.
Partner with the CEO and other senior leaders to reinforce HCCPs deep and ongoing commitment to diversity, inclusion, and well-being. Lead efforts to create and maintain an environment where everyone can be the best version of themselves.
Identify opportunities to improve employee engagement, leveraging matrix resources to achieve identified improvement targets.
Represent HCCP as a member of the Global HR team.
Qualifications
Valuable Experiences and Skills You Will Bring
Bachelors degree required; advanced degree preferred, professional certifications a plus
10+ years of experience in a human resources leadership position. Experience in both corporate and business facing human resources roles is a strong plus
Proven leader and strategic thinker, effective people coach and manager, problem solver, and influencer
Strong communicator who canattract and recruit top talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team, and manage performance; widely viewed as a strong developer of others and able to get the best from strong HR professionals on the team
Clear experience of leading the people agenda in a decentralized, multi-site, hybrid organization
Significant experience and a proven track record in talent acquisition, management, development, engagement, and retention
Skilled at fostering an environment, culture, and brand to attract the best and most diverse talent, bringing a thoughtful approach to talent planning, culture change, organizational design
Business transformation experience with a proven track record of developing and implementing innovative solutions at an operational, tactical, and strategic level
Demonstrable executive experience of organizational development particularly around change management and developing organizational culture
Understanding of people systems and their strategic importance to effectively deliver the people strategy
Ability to effectively balance the desire/need for broad change with an understanding of how much change the organization is capable of handling, to create realistic goals and implementation plans that are achievable and successful
Ability to persevere in the face of challenges with a relentless commitment to higher standards which commands respect from stakeholders, employees, and HR leadership
Ability to help the company navigate post-covid work culture
Experience implementing or maximizing the potential of HR technology tools
Ability to set clear and challenging goals while committing the organization to improved performance
Lead by example and drive performance with an attitude of continuous improvement by being open to feedback and self-improvement
While the preference is for this role to be based in Nashville, TN in a hybrid capacity, remote candidates will be considered.
