Sales & Use Tax Accountant

Compensation: Up to $90K base salary (depending on experience)
The Company is seeking an experienced accounting professional in the sales and use tax field. This individual will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of the sales and use tax returns as well as compliance with the 2018 Wayfair regulations.
  • Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales and use tax experience
  • Proficient in MS Excel using spreadsheets to provide advanced analytics
  • SAP experience
  • Manufacturing experience a strong plus

Functions & Primary Responsibilities

  • File monthly, quarterly and annual sales and use tax returns - Multiple States & Jurisdictions (Approximately 30 monthly filings)
  • Monthly review of A/P manufacturing invoices for taxability
  • Research taxability of purchases as they occur
  • Reconcile the sales and use tax liability account on a monthly basis
  • Assist with registration for new sales tax filings as they arise
  • Support the development of indirect tax procedures, policies and guidelines around the use of manufacturing exemptions and resale certificates
  • Conduct self-audits periodically of miscellaneous payables/sales
  • Research tax laws
  • Manage outside sales tax audits
  • Must be able to work independently, multi-task and prioritize under pressure and within timeline constraints
  • Other duties and project, as assigned

Internal Relationships

  • Reports to Texas United Management Corporation's Tax Manager
  • Work with the Accounting Business Analyst to optimize Taxware
  • Communicate and work closely with individuals in the Shared Services Center (IT, A/P, A/R) and Operations from whom timely critical information is needed

Tax Accountant requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• CPA license and/or MBT (Master in Business Taxation) degree, preferred
• 2+ years of general tax experience
• Big "4" tax experience, a plus
•Proficient in the use of MS Excel and Word
