The Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE) serves as the catalyst for enhancing the quality of the undergraduate student experience while promoting on-time graduation for all undergraduate students at IUPUI. Three units report up to the Division: University College, Honors College and the Institute for Engaged Learning.
University College provides a common gateway to the academic programs available to entering students. Programs and services offered by University College focus on assisting students with the development of the knowledge and skills needed for success in the collegiate environment, including academic advising, academic support, career planning, peer mentoring, and new student orientation. University College also offers college readiness programs that focus on helping high school students to become college bound.
Job Summary
The Senior Executive Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for 5 key University College offices: Academic and Career Development, Office of Student Employment, Life Health Sciences Internship Program, the Center for Transfer and Adult Students, and the Office of Campus Career and Advising Services (which serves as central point of contact for employer partners and provides campus coordination for internship initiatives).

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary
Annual Salary: $95,000 - 99,000

Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Maintains a campus-wide program of professional development for career and academic advisors focused on the integration of both in practice.
- Coordinates and implements assessment of campus effectiveness in advising and career services.
- Coordinates the implementation and strategic utilization of technologies to support career services and academic advising across campus.
- Chairs the Campus Advising Council.
- Serves on the leadership teams for JACADA and the Career Services Council; and represents IUPUI on IU-wide committees relevant to advising and career services.
- Contributes on senior leadership teams to formulate strategic planning and the highest-level operational objectives for student services areas.
- Establishes long-term business plans and long-term strategic objectives.
- Directs leadership staff who provide supervision to student services teams.
- Responsible for escalated operational issues, including human resources and/or people management situations.
- Drives innovation and excellence within the area of student services; reviews and creates policies and procedures.
- Determines overall budget for student services teams; reviews and approves financial proposals from direct reporting leaders; has significant fiscal responsibilities that require frequent interaction with executive leaders.
- Provides expertise and identifies grant and/or funding opportunities; develops business relationships across the university and externally.
- Stays up-to-date on new student services standards, technologies, policies, and procedures and works collaboratively with other student services leaders across departments and/or campuses in determining standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures; ensures the adoption and implementation by direct reporting leaders.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in law, public health, public affairs, counseling, social work, or a related field
- Master's degree in higher education student affairs or a related field
Required
- 5 years in student programs, higher education student affairs, or a related field
- 3 years of management experience in a relevant field
