Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist, Full Time Days

To coordinate Career Development Unit (CDU); to engage members in the work of the unit and the Clubhouse in general so that members gain social, educational, and vocational skills and confidence; to oversee expansion of vocational opportunities for members through collaboration with CDU staff; to develop opportunities for members to improve their educational skills; to assist Clubhouse Director with Administrative components of program, including: helping to prepare for annual OMHSAS licensing site visits, County audits, MCO audits, and Clubhouse International accreditations; to assist with data management; to provide administrative oversight of records for the program; to assist in hiring and public relations.
Unit Responsibilities:
Maintain statistics regarding member involvement in employment, volunteer, and educational activities; oversee data management and quality improvement within CDU.
Maintain member employment and educational files.
Develop forms, form letters, handbook, etc. related to employment programs.
Ensure maintenance of employer packets for marketing of Transitional Employment program.
Oversee event planning for employment, volunteer and educational celebration events.
Provide education and support for members regarding employment, work incentives, and educational opportunities.
Employment
Maintain job board
Assist members with job seeking skills and resources
Assist in writing resumes and completing applications
Help identify job interests/skills
Practice interview skills
Advocacy/support in educational pursuits
Develop resource library with descriptive literature, entrance criteria, applications, financial aid resources, occupational information, employer profiles, etc.
Assist members with entrance criteria and application procedures.
Trouble-shoot any difficulties members may have in accessing training or educational opportunities
Provide ongoing support to members in training and educational facilities through frequent communication, visits, etc.
Develop contacts with local schools, colleges, training programs, employers, etc.
Facilitate access to educational opportunities and supports, including Power Program, TAP program, College Plus, and any new initiatives that may help members achieve success in educational goals.
In-house education
Assess educational skill level of members
Coordinate ABE & GED tutoring
Maintain Peer Tutoring program, including recruitment and training of member tutors
Recruit and oversee volunteer tutors
Community resources: Information and referral
Maintain resources of descriptive literature regarding community resources, such as, medical, dental, food, clothing, financial, entitlements, etc.
Resource Library
Maintain and expand library resources on physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, including books, pamphlets, and multimedia resources
Ensure responsible circulation system of books and materials
Administrative Responsibilities:
Assist Practice Administrator I in hiring CDU staff as required
Provide orientation to and ongoing training of all assigned staff
Oversee data management and quality improvement of employment and educational outcomes
Assist and provide oversight for Member Services Unit with data management and required data reporting
Develop/facilitate utilization of technology and computerized documentation/tracking systems as assigned
Prepare/submit reports as required
Represent Wellspring Clubhouse in a variety of forums, including education, employment, and rehabilitation events
Participate in policy and procedural review process
Review rehabilitation records as assigned to assure quality change-based services with focus on wellness, community integration, and achievement of rehabilitation goals
Assist Practice Administrator in preparing for site inspections (DPW, County, State) and Clubhouse International accreditation visits.
Assist in preparation and leadership in meetings
Provide clinical and administrative oversight in Practice Administrator's absence
Case Management
Become informed of local services/resources
Advocate for members in need of services
Teach members how to access services/resources
Coordinate services with other providers
Communicate effectively with other providers
Social/Recreational
Plan and carry out social/recreational activities
Be flexible in work schedule to allow for evening and weekend social/recreational events
Team
Communicate effectively and often with manager and co-workers
Participate actively in team process, sharing ideas, opinions, giving feedback and support
Ensure adequate staff coverage
Take additional responsibilities when necessary
Driving
Maintain good driving records, license and insurance in accordance with policy.
Drive safely and report vehicle problems
Share driving responsibilities by transporting members in fleet vehicles for shopping and social/recreational activities
Rehabilitation
Establish positive relationships with members
Engage/motivate members in work necessary to run the unit
Create opportunities for member involvement and input, leadership, learning and working
Identify member strengths and special needs
Establish realistic goals for the unit
Work together with members to establish realistic personal and/or rehabilitation goals
Identify individual member learning styles and develop appropriate training methods
Show sensitivity to member issues and difficulties
Provide support, guidance, direction, understanding, etc.
Exhibit problem solving skills as needed
Create opportunities for members to work together
Train members in good work habits and attitudes
Reach out to absent members through phone calls, cards, letters, visits
Complete required rehabilitation paperwork
Demonstrate knowledge of mental illness, symptoms, symptom management, coping skills, medications, etc.
Address drug and alcohol issues when necessary
Job Placement Management(Transitional Employment)
Partner with Employment Specialist to identify whether new jobs are appropriate for our membership
Learn job skills and duties
Train members on the job
Provide ongoing job support
Fill in when member is absent
Train member back-ups for job (as applicable)
Ensure that job is always filled
Communicate with employer regularly
Maintain positive relationship with employer
Complete required work related paperwork
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Sitting for up to 2 hours per day, 1 hour at a time. Standing for up to 10 hour per day, 8 hours at a time. Walk for 6 hours per day, 10 minutes at a time. Consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 lbs. Occasionally lift, carry, and push objects up to 75 lbs. Frequently stoop and bend. Frequently reach above shoulder level. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, and high and low frequencies. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision.
EDUCATION
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in related field
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Preferred minimum 3 years experience in mental health field
Must meet PA state requirements for Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist, including holding current Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP) credential, or be willing/able to obtain CPRP credential within 2 years from hir
