Sr. Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly / Torque Strategies
Position Description
Growing and leading edge technology manufacturer at their location in east suburban Atlanta, GA has a newly created Sr. Manufacturing Engineer opportunity that will lead and perform engineering-related tasks working independently that are varied and very complex, which require troubleshooting, interpreting data and development of new methods or procedures for a variety of situations. Will develop and implement new manufacturing processes for the purpose of reducing and controlling costs. This is a high volume assembly operation with a growing division of a major brand name company. There is a 7.5% management incentive potential as well as relocation assistance is available. Job Responsibilities
1. Leads a variety of engineering assignments to develop and implement production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in a cost efficient manner
2. Provides liaison support between the engineering department and manufacturing
3. Recommends and implements improvements and/or modifications for sequence of operations, equipment utilization and related matters
4. Monitors assigned operations to assure compliance with current project schedules and approved quality standards
5. Leads proposals regarding the purchase or building of new equipment or modernization of existing production/processing equipment
6. Recommends methods of manufacture during design of new products; recommends design modifications or process changes
7. Works with customers and/or suppliers to determine application requirements
8. Leads the install of new tools, fixtures, and equipment into the facility.
9. Monitors and reports on facility metrics such as safety, quality, delivery cost
10. Performs full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching, and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; EEO/AA; performance management; department budget
11. Performs other duties as assigned
Job Skills Requirements
Extensive knowledge of engineering concepts, practices and procedures engineering standards and systems
Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing production/cell development
Ability to read and interpret computer aided drawings and prints
Strong project management skills and ability to lead teams
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with and motivate a diverse group of people
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Related field
Experience Requirements
Seven years of engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Will consider mid volume experience. Assembly experience required. Lean and Six Sigma experience is needed. RCA and PFMEA experience is also required. Needed is torque drill strategies experience. PLC and vision systems experience is preferred as well as SAP. Tool design experience is a plus. Battery manufacturing experience is also a plus. Automotive or vehicle related experience is preferred.
