Crude Oil Scheduler
Position Overview:
The Crude Oil Scheduler will be part of the Crude Oil Supply & Trading team which is responsible for buying, selling, trading and scheduling deliveries of Crude Oil to Motiva's refinery system and engaging in value adding optimization and trading activities. In addition, the Crude Oil Scheduler will support Motiva's growing upstream supply growth objectives, as well as, global cargo trading business. The Crude Oil Scheduler will report to the Manager, Crude Oil Supply & Trading.
Responsibilities:
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled Crude group planning meetings to review and discuss refinery run plans, changes to those plans, inventories at terminals, pipeline schedules, marine vessel status, interactions with refinery scheduling team and outside logistics partners
- Review trading contracts and ensure operational execution, both by Motiva and the external company
- Understand quality constraints, perform quality blending operations, ensure quality consistency, coordinate sampling for assay/quality verification as required.
- Confirm 3rd party contracts, monitor receipts, pipeline schedules, and convey notifications of apportionment or operational issues.
- Coordinate and manage pipeline nominations, scheduling and reconciliation for crude injects, deliveries, transshipment, and terminal transfers.
- Evaluate transit times and coordinate with pipelines/3rd parties to advance/delay/swap batches as requires meeting operational requirements at near-Port Arthur or other terminals.
- Coordinate marine activity including; FOB liftings, delivered cargoes, vessel vetting, lightering inspections, loss control, custom filings and invoicing.
- Manage terminal inventory records and keep traders informed on supply availability/issues and forward planning
- Actively assess and manage a range of operational plans and outcomes inherent to the refining / logistics / trading environment and share market insight/intelligence
- Work closely with mid-office to ensure positions and risk exposure is valid in the system of record
- Work closely with back-office to ensure the validity of volume actualization, receipt reconciliation, settlement, review/validate and confirm for payment invoices associated with pipeline or marine activity, calculate and maintain logistics cost accruals in the system of record, verify and approve inspection service invoices on an ongoing basis
- Develop and maintain strong relationship with internal stakeholders and external counterparty.
- Enter orders and maintain accuracy of data in Motiva Software Systems such as: Navarik, Terminal-Smart, Right Angle and other third-party scheduling systems.
- Available to be on call 24/7
Experience and Qualifications Required:
Basic Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Experience with petroleum/crude oil operations
- Three plus years of business experience
- Awareness of refining operations
- Demonstrated ability to be inquisitive, analytical, collaborative, and detail/action oriented while managing complexity and ambiguity
- Demonstrate ability to be resilient and adaptive in an environment of constant change and challenges
- Ability to maintain organization of a large quantity of dynamic information and circumstances
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with or awareness of middle and back-office work processes and policies
- Experience with RightAngle software a plus
