Job Responsibilities

The Fleet & Logistics Assistant Manager is responsible the for the basic routing of Alliance assets, management of fleet equipment, repairs, vendors and the overall on time cost effective operation of all fleet assets.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the Logistics, Routing and Operations teams to maximize the efficient usage of Fleet Tractors, resulting in minimal usage of rental tractors and leveling of mileage driven. Oversees the management of fleet equipment resulting in efficient fuel usage and maximizing Driver productivity while minimizing overtime due to equipment down time and unsatisfactory operational condition.

  • Collect data, update databases as needed and create weekly Driver schedules. Coordinates and implements unpredicted changes to Driver routes and schedules. Development of efficient, safe, FMCSR compliant drivers weekly schedules via the designated routing system. Meeting annual operating budget, DOT compliance, safety, tractor repair & maintenance, optimizing the utilization of tractors, warranty recovery, implementation, compliance, reviews of National Vendor and parts purchasing programs and working nationally with the Alliance team members to ultimately reach the overall goals.

  • Manages vendor relationships at the local and national level. Evaluates and assesses maintenance service requests. Supports emergency situations, including weekends and after hours as needed.

  • Promote and assure the safe operation of all vehicles/equipment and develop a safety-first culture within the Alliance Radiology fleet. Ensure compliance with all regulations including DOT requirements to be executed safely and legally according to Federal, State and Company regulations. Responsible for accident prevention processes/programs, reporting to insurance carrier and investigations as needed.

  • Responsible for updating and maintaining an accurate inventory of all vehicles and equipment. Keeps a detailed history for every vehicle in the fleet which entails having well-kept records.

  • Establishes Situational Procedures for possible problems and scenarios. Develop and implement detailed plans of action for conditions, such as vehicle breakdowns, traffic crashes, failed inspections and other incidents that may occur while a fleet vehicle is traveling to its destination.

  • Involved in the annual budgetary process. Regularly reviews the accounts payable repairs and maintenance spend and enforces compliance with National Purchasing programs for Fleet/Logistic equipment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required.

  • Five (5) to eight (8) years related experience and/or training in fleet logistics, operations or repairs required.

  • Knowledge and understanding of FMCSR (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) as it relates to personnel, operations, equipment, accidents, driver logs and maintenance.

  • A valid driver's license in the state of residence.

  • Must be self-disciplined, have the ability to work independently and possess strong communication skills

  • Strong computer skills including MS Office.

  • Experience with remote domiciled fleet equipment & personnel with no centralized resources preferred.

  • Job may require 10-15% of local travel.
