One of the first human genetics departments in the country, the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at IU School of Medicine has a rich history of training geneticists and genetic counselors and providing genetic consultation and counseling services. The department contributes to the understanding of numerous genetic conditions through the integration of basic research in genetic and genomic mechanisms, translational research in disease models, and clinical trials in rare and common genetic diseases.

Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Maintains current Genetic Counseling (GC) student records to track and facilitate students' progression to graduation in addition to facilitating GC Program alumni's documentation needs for obtaining board certification.
- Familiarizes themselves with the academic and extracurricular prerequisites of the program as well as the program's basic academic structure in order to address basic program email inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Helps to facilitate functions of the Indiana University Genetic Counseling Graduate Program (IUGCGP) Professional Development Review Panel and IUGCGP Admission Committee and contributes to the facilitation of new GC program initiatives in curriculum, clinical practicums, research projects and student recruitment.
- Manages the GC Program CAS, organizes, and maintains all documentation related to annual student applications and admissions; facilitates spring semester meetings of the IUGCGP Admission Committee, and coordinates student interviews and follow-up correspondence with applicants.
- Conducts research and compiles materials and information for departmental programs.
- Prepares records of program activities; oversees and ensures the timely processing and delivery of required materials.
- Reviews the policies and procedures involved in departmental programs; suggests improvements; and ensures that rules comply with university standards.
- Analyzes data and information generated or produced by program; writes reports and other written materials based on this data.
- Verifies the accuracy of all data and information used or generated by program; resolves any discrepancies or problems.
- Responds to requests for program information by staff, students, and faculty; handles any necessary correspondence.
- Serves as liaison for department; coordinates activities and exchanges information.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree.

- 4 years of related work experience.
