Position Overview: Inwood House maintains four residential programs for pregnant and parenting teens under the age of 21-years-old who are child welfare involved or considered to be runaway homeless youth. The social worker will be responsible for providing comprehensive delivery of therapeutic counseling and related services to pregnant and/or parenting teens in residential settings, as well as young fathers and families who live throughout the five boroughs.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience: Our ideal candidate has an LMSW or equivalent.

Must have some experience with any of the following: adolescents; infant mental health (0-5), dyadic counseling, facilitating parenting groups.

Must have some knowledge regarding maternal health issues, as well as child health and “baby well care.” Knowledge regarding young fathers is helpful.

Must be able to acquire skills related to trauma-informed care, the youth development framework, and be able to effectively engage hard-to-reach youth.

Must be computer literate and can promote a positive and enthusiastic work environment.

Must possess the ability to travel to home visits throughout the five boroughs if needed.

Must be willing to maintain a flexible schedule to meet the needs of clients, including working some evenings and weekends.

Must be a team player and have the ability to work independently. Ability to interact, and work with culturally diverse individuals.

Ability to establish professional boundaries and engage in professional behaviors that emulate a high level of ethics and objective/non-judgmental approaches.

Must be a strong communicator and have the ability to motivate others

Bilingual Spanish preferred
