The Cook Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising work of employees to ensure efficiency and adherence to established standards. Duties of this position include, instructing and training employees in all aspects of food service and sanitation, ensuring meal services begin on time and portion control, appearance and temperature for all food items is appropriate and of high quality. This position will also be responsible for performing food preparation and production tasks efficiently and accurately while following safe food handling policies, procedures, and recipes. The ideal candidate must have experience supervising a team, as well as prior cooking experience preferably in an institutional setting with an emphasis on scratch and high quantity cooking.

Cook Supervisor Responsibilities and Duties

• Supervise staff under the direction of the Dietary Manager

• Lead and train team in all culinary aspects

• Ensure team observes all HACCP procedures and safety processes

• Ensure team adhere to all sanitation and food production

• Prepares meals according to menu and recipes for the day

• Ensures all food is complete and ready to served.

• Ensures all prep completed labeled and dated for future meals.

• Clean and sanitize all food areas used for meal prep.

• Take temperatures of all foods served and record.

• Ensures proper sanitation of the kitchen and equipment during shift.

• Properly open or close the kitchen

• Interact with resident and families as related to the food and nutrition needs.

• Attend all mandatory in-services and other education as needed.

• Participates in culture change, improvements in work environment and quality of life of residents.

• Works as a team member to achieve excellence in care and attainment of mission of facility.

• Follows dress code for position.

• Follows all dining services department and facility wide policies and procedures.

• Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
