Software Development Engineer



Job Description

Lentech is seeking a Software Development Engineer with diverse experience in software development projects. The Software Development Engineer serves as a key member of the software development team within an Agile Release Team. Responsibilities include writing code to address specified requirements within user stories, participation in daily scrum meetings, testing code, recommendations for improved code sets, grooming sprint backlog, determining next development cycle from sprint backlog.​​​​​​

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, deploys, and supports source code for UX and back-end cloud-based solutions within an Agile Release Team.
  • Provides development, engineering and programming support to projects and infrastructure support activities.
  • Develops, creates, and modifies general computer applications software or specialized utility programs.
  • Analyzes user needs and develops software solutions.
  • Designs software or customizes software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.
  • May analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 8 years of coding experience
  • 5 years of experience in the software development and high-volume enterprise systems.
  • Experience with the following: JavaScript, Java, Node.js, C#, JQuery, Python, Ruby and Web application development tools
  • Experience with open-source technology technologies in a high-volume distributed environment
  • Experience working in a DevOps-oriented culture that prioritizes continuous integration and continuous deployment
  • Design and develop tools that integrate with commercial applications
  • Design and develop database management systems, image processing, collaborative tools, data manipulation techniques, data visualization techniques, and directory services
  • Provide database architectural and design capabilities
  • Develop unit and functional test plan
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost restraints
  • Consult with customers about software system design and maintenance
  • Coordinate software system deployment and monitor to ensure specifications are met
  • Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation
  • Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
  • Correct errors by making appropriate changes and then recheck the program to ensure that the desired results are produced
  • Conduct trial runs of program and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct
  • Compile and write documentation of program development and subsequent revisions, inserting comments in the coded instruction so others can understand the program
  • Write, update, and maintain computer programs or software packages to handle specific jobs, such as tracking inventory, storing or receiving data, or controlling other equipment
  • Consult with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes
  • Perform or direct revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements
  • Written, analyze, review, and rewrite programs, using workflow chart and diagram, and applying knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic
  • Write or contribute to instructions or manuals to guide end users
  • Consult with and assist the scrum team to define and resolve problems
  • Designs, Develops, and Maintains applications within the cloud environment. This can be for new application development or the transition of legacy applications to the cloud environment.
  • Must be able to achieve a moderate (Tier 2) VA position of trust

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in the healthcare industry
  • Experience working in the Federal Government, Veteran's Administration (VA) experience a plus
  • Experience developing code deployed in government FISMA, commercial (AWS & Azure) and hybrid FedRAMP environments
  • Active clearance for Public Trust Position
  • HealthShare Health Connect HL7 Interface Specialist Certification.
  • InterSystems IRIS Core Solutions Developer Specialist Certification.
