We are looking for a Food Service Attendant for the Patient Nutritional Care Department at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.

Location: Mission Viejo, CA

Work Schedule: Part time - 48 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Under general supervision acts as liaison between the patient (infant, adolescent, adult, and geriatric), nursing and Nutritional Care Services. Performs meal preparation and assembly activities for patients of all ages including infant, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Job requires both clinical nutrition and customer service skills. Job duties include meal assembly and delivery, compliance to food safety standards and performance improvement activities.

Essential Functions:

• Performs patient meal and nourishment tray assembly by ensuring compliance and accuracy. Communicates with trayline staff and supervisor to meet presentation and food quality goals. Participates in pre-service meeting.

• Performs delivery of meal trays to patients using sacred moments scene and patient experience scripting. Follows department standards in checking patient identifiers, obtaining additional food items, and allergy confirmation.

• Uses safe food handling techniques and follows required food sanitation policies and procedures. Performs cleaning duties as assigned by the cleaning schedule and supervisor or manager. Keeps work area clean at all times. Follows food labeling and dating standards.

• Demonstrates positive customer service skills in performing job responsibilities with patients, families, visitors, and staff.

• Participates in performance improvement activities as assigned:

• Participates in ongoing competency validation and department education as assigned.

• Serves as trainer/mentor to Room Service Attendants as assigned.

Skills:

• Excellent customer services skills.

• Ability to read menus and recipes.

• Visual abilities to read menus for tray assembly.

• Ability to use common sense and demonstrates dependability.

• Ability to work well with fellow staff members.

• Proficient in required competencies upon completion of orientation, as listed on the unit specific competency inventory (if applicable).

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience: 6 months experience in food service.
