SUPERVISOR:

Kitchen Manager or designee.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting the manager in oversight of kitchen operations to ensure that students are served nutritious and attractive meals in a clean and caring atmosphere. Assists with development of kitchen staff and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele as direct by the manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serves as backup to the manager and completes all duties and responsibilities of the kitchen manager in their absence while participating in preparation, serving, cashiering, and sanitation tasks.
2. Understands and follows all department revenue handling procedures.
3. Assists kitchen manager with delegation of assignments and follow up to ensure all work is completed timely and efficiently to meet labor budget.
4. Fully trained and able to submit to the central office in the manager's absence all food and non-food orders, payroll, attendance, production sheets, inventory, maintenance and equipment requests correctly and timely.
5. Works with manager to ensure all health department sanitation standards are met.
6. Understands and ensures safety policies are followed and worker's compensation procedures are followed.
7. Understands and follows all HACCP mandates.
8. Assists manager with promotions to increase meal participation.
9. Notifies manager of any personnel issues and keeps these issues confidential.
10. In the absence of the manager, stays current with all district and department communication including voicemail and email. Attends manager meetings in the absence of the manager. Shares all information with kitchen staff in a timely manner.
11. Assists manager with staff training as directed.
12. Participates in all required meetings, trainings, and development.
13. Carries out all tasks and directives given by manager or supervisor.
14. Other tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School or GED Certificate preferred.
2. Physical ability (including lifting up to 45 pounds) to perform the job duties and responsibilities.
3. Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
4. Computer experience with Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred
5. Applicants must be proficient in the English language with the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1- 2 years of food service experience

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Requires repetitive bending, reaching, pulling
Moderate physical effort (must be able to lift up to 45 pounds)
Prolonged standing/walking
Eye/hand coordination for register and computer operation
Noisy environment
Temperature variations
