Key Responsibilities
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Director will have primary responsibility for leading, managing and driving the CI Agenda for Knowles Precision Devices (KPD) with multiple locations across the globe with over 1000 employees. This position has 2 direct reports at the corporate level.
Key Responsibilities
CI Strategy
- Establish a multi-year CI strategy for KPD with the aim to develop world-class operations.
- Develop standardized approach to CI across KPD, including common verbiage, tools, project template, training protocol, etc.
- Anticipate issues, needs, and required actions pertaining to CI and develop plans for addressing such opportunities.
- Drive a cultural transformation at the sites where Continuous Improvement is the way we work.
- Lead the CI team to deliver a measurable business benefit that is tracked and reported
Employee Engagement and Capability Building
- Champion use of CI methodology and tools across KPD.
- Build organization capability in CI through coaching, mentoring, and training staff in the understanding and deployment of CI methodology and practices.
- Provide guidance to site leadership team on targeted CI projects and activities.
- Provide internal consultative services on specific CI projects and activities such as process mapping, value stream mapping, process design / controls, establishing performance standards/metrics, ROI analysis and project management.
- Communicate and propagate CI success stories across the business.
- Lead coordination of CI recognition program.
Planning & Performance Management
- Develop and communicate key performance indicators/dashboard for CI. Measure, analyze and report CI performance to Operations Leadership in Corporate and Field locations.
- Using appropriate measurement, analysis and evaluation methods to accurately identify and document improvements related to CI delivery.
- Maintain database of CI projects, tracking and reporting progress and performance to key stakeholders
- Sets expectations that drives the change management process for CI implementations.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Minimum of 10+ year’s total professional experience in a manufacturing environment in progressively responsible roles focused in relevant CI activities.
- Minimum 5 years experience and successful track record in roles focused on use of Continuous Improvement tools and methodology such as Lean Enterprise, Six Sigma, TPS, Kaizen, 5-S/Visual Workplace.
- Minimum 5 years experience and successful track record in line roles such as Plant Management, Operations/Maintenance Management, Quality Management or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years experience in automotive, defense, or medical industry with a focus on electronic manufacturing.
- Multi-plant responsibility in previous role(s) highly preferred.
- Must have had experience in an industry where high-quality standards are present (e.g., Automotive, Defense or Medical).
- Demonstrated history of successful change implementation and implementing of operational excellence improvements.
- Formal training and work experience in managing mid-to-large scale projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college.
- Master's or MBA highly preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with preference for simulation SW, advanced data base / excel capabilities.
- Verbal and written proficiency in English
- The ability to be conversant in another language such as Spanish is preferred but not required
- The position will require 30+% travel; both domestic in the US and internationally.
- Advanced knowledge of Continuous Improvement (CI) techniques.
- Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis education or experience.
- Ability to coach and train employees.
- Strong organization skills, including attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and prioritize projects.
- Interpersonal skills, with the ability to resolve conflict and reach an agreement with others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.

- Must be a U.S. citizen. Security Clearance application required upon hire
