Job Description:
Among its commercial priorities, Envista has identified pricing as a substantial value driver. Externally, there is a need to address rising inflation and volatility through tactical pricing moves, contract renegotiations, and better net price / cost transparency. Internally, product innovation requires novel pricing models to support price with value, reflecting innovation in software and services vs. hardware and product only enabling to defend price in front of all decision makers, clinical and economic buyers. Today, pricing is done by the Finance function de-centrally within each Operating Company. Going forward, Envista wants to build a stronger center of excellence to professionalize pricing strategy, execution of tactics, and enablers to support the change.
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the Sr. Director, Pricing will lead the build-out of our Pricing Center of Excellence globally.
This is a newly created role, and this leader will build a focused expert team, with required analytical and pricing skills, to support Envistas Operating Companies (OpCos) to:
Address pricing challenges and opportunities, namely inflation & volatility
Review pricing of existing in-market products along their life-cycles
Set pricing of launch products in line of clinical and economic value
Apply pricing strategically particularly in cross-OpCo negotiations with buying groups (DSOs)
Develop methodologies and tools to make transparency and monitor / steer execution
The role is a critical leadership position with significant career growth opportunities. This role will contribute to drive revenue and operating profit growth across all Operating Companies of Envista. The company is open as to where the role is based.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish strong and collaborative relationships with key representatives from the global commercial teams and select buying groups (DSOs)
Work with global marketing, sales and finance counterparts in each OpCo to ensure end-to-end perspective on pricing and alignment around global pricing strategies
Engage early in New Product Development to ensure product launch pricing strategy is determined, acting as thought partner on monetization of innovation
Build structure to review pricing of existing products, managing opportunities along the product life-cycle, ensuring price is in line with value, and balancing volume/margin trade-off
Enhance operating mechanisms and internal controls to ensure discipline to pricing floors / discounting and approval processes for exceptions to those floors
Approve major pricing moves and tactics in alignment with OpCo senior leadership / as part of (to be formed) Pricing Committee
Build strong analytical power in a shared center of excellence to identify actionable opportunities, and make recommendations to improve pricing at the customer / product level
Develop easy-to-use tools and processes to monitor and measure pricing performance at country / region / account level to support plan-do-review cycle and follow-up
Conduct (in)formal market research activities jointly with OpCos to analyze and identify market needs and issues around pricing, and to gather key data points for price setting / review
Support compliance and performance assessments, and adjust processes and tools as needed
Job Requirements:
Education and Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree required, Masters or MBA highly preferred
5+ years experience in leading global pricing strategies across complex portfolios
15+ years experience in strategy / commercial / pricing roles, preferably in the global medical device world
Experience in strategy consulting is a plus
Global / international experience is a plus
