PURPOSE

Assists certified drivers by assembling load deliveries and preparing trucks for delivery to customer job site. Provides delivery site support. As a non-CDL Driver Trainee, associate is responsible for performing previously assigned job duties while building product knowledge and familiarity with vehicle operation and safe driving procedures. Responsible for learning company, state, local and DOT regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs load-building, and learns how to determine the appropriate weight, composition, and placement of load based on customer order and capacity of delivery vehicle to ensure load is balanced and safe for hauling.

• Validates loads against customer invoice to ensure the correct materials and the quantity of materials are accurate.

• Assists with unloading the truck at the delivery site and interfaces with customers in a positive, professional manner.

• Attends required training courses, completes assignments, and prepares for driver certification assessments.

• Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required.

• Demonstrates willingness and ability to learn all aspects of Driver duties.

• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

High School Diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and clean driving record. Must be able to obtain a Forklift certification. Must demonstrate a good work ethic, be able to pass a MVR report, obtain a DOT medical card, and have management support to participate in non-CDL training program.
