Sr. Cost Accountant

Compensation: $65000.00 to $88500.00 yearly
Robert Half is currently working with a client seeking a cost accountant. This critical Cost Accountant role is responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. This role will also establish customer pricing by working closely with the sales teams and senior financial management team. - Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization
- Support audits and general ledger preparation
- Approximate costs for new and proposed products- Analyze any changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost
- Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
- Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings
- Perform variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances
- Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
- Manage the implementation of a standard costing methodology for domestic plants
- Log a detailed record of collected data
- Generate reports comparing production costs to standard costs and analyze manufacturing costs
- Monitor the cycle count program and conduct physical inventories
- Decide costs of business activity, including raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste
- Create internal cost audits
- Competence with financial data analysis and report generation that is prompt and accurate
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
- Strong understanding of organizational accounting concepts
- Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Understanding of cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates
- 2 years of Cost Accounting work experience
