The RCM Pillar Portfolio Management and Delivery Operations (Back and EDI) team collaborates with our teammates across Provider Revenue Cycle Management Operations to ensure smooth services delivery to our clients. This team is charged with all project management oversight for the Revenue Cycle Management Pillar including project and program management, RCM portfolio management, project financial management, project governance, and executive reporting. This team supports a variety of project and program types (ideation projects, analysis only projects, and implementation projects-both technology and non-technology implementations) and is also accountable for various project administrative tasks across provider including cost and productivity management, PMO administration, internal productivity and process optimization, and employee engagement activities. This position will most likely report to the Senior Director, RCM Pillar Portfolio Management and Delivery (EDI & Back) and will be responsible for portfolio management of the RCM back portfolio (acute and ambulatory) while also managing projects and programs in support of Revenue Cycle Operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive the project/program level strategy, design, planning and creation of appropriate deliverables. This includes full project lifecycle ownership from definition through delivery; including monitoring, controlling and reporting
  • Manage a portfolio of complex Revenue Cycle Management initiatives including strategic ideation/definition programs across multiple stakeholders. This includes management of all aspects of assigned programs/projects as well as oversight of projects managed by others but considered part of RCM back portfolio to enable consistent and clear executive reporting
  • Maintain strong executive presence with communication skills that span organizational levels
  • Independently manage program with multiple workstreams across the Revenue Cycle Management Pillar
  • Form strong relationships with internal and external customers, using influence and sound judgment to negotiate competing agendas and priorities between stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrate a functional acumen in Revenue Cycle Management to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
  • Work creatively and independently and be comfortable working in uncertainty and in frequently changing environments (aka "shades of gray") with a focus on problem solving and enabling teamwork, innovation, and excellence
  • Proactively identify risks and manage to risk mitigation plans that effectively deliver projects on time, on budget, and within agreed upon scope
  • Successfully drive projects to achieve key business objectives, financial targets and outcomes
  • Leverage sound project management methodologies and tools. Help define and report on project success criteria results, metrics, and all project portfolio status activities
  • Create communication plans that help socialize and gain consensus for solutions to be implemented
  • Understand the business, systems and operational processes to be able to guide and support the implementation of solutions
  • Successfully drive projects to achieve key business objectives, financial targets and outcomes
  • Leverage sound project management methodologies and tools
  • Create collaboration across the enterprise, aligning key people, processes, and technologies within the organization that create a best in class customer experience
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools etc. to enable overall success of both the PMO and larger organization
  • Develop insightful infographic visualizations that quickly demonstrate data and processes
  • Create presentations, status reports, job aids, road maps, frameworks, playbooks to articulate the progress and value of the work
  • Fluidly move between strategy and tactical delivery, balancing business needs vs. execution
  • Seamlessly flex into and out of multiple engagements based on priorities, business needs, and an always evolving environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree and at least 7+ years of work experience, or 12+ years experience (post high school)
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience, preferably in HealthCare
  • 3+ years of proven program and/or portfolio management, preferably in healthcare
  • 3+ years experience using project management software
  • Experience interacting and reporting to executive leadership
  • Solid understanding of project and program management methodology, best practices and tools
  • Excellent understanding of how scope, resource, budget, quality and time impacts a project and be able to proactively manage them along with identifying risks and managing to a robust risk mitigation plan
  • End-to-end project and program documentation experience: CBA, project plan, status reports, RACI, business requirements, process flows, communication plan, risk mitigation plan

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Project Management, Healthcare Administration
  • PMP certification
  • Experience in Revenue Cycle Management at a Facility, Provider and/or Vendor/Service Provider
  • Experience using project management tool sets and programs
  • Knowledge of key technologies and business challenges in Revenue Cycle Management- particularly cash posting, denials management, financial oversight, claims processing etc.
  • Ability to simultaneously work on multiple initiatives and lead project resources
  • Ability to influence and work with internal and external stakeholders/resources to move projects and programs forward and overcome any challenges
  • Excellent/demonstrated leadership, communication (written, verbal, presentation) and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable with presentations to executive leaders and all levels throughout the organization
  • Self- motivated, ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Capable of working independently, with limited direction and in a team environment
  • Wired to thrive, know how to be effective, establish clarity out of chaos, comfortable being uncomfortable, make sense out of ambiguity
  • Stellar organization and comprehension capabilities with a keen eye on details
