Overview:
Arcadia University invites applications for a part-time staff position as Analytical Instrument and Equipment Manager in the Departments of Biology and Chemistry/Physics, which serve undergraduate majors and minors in Biology and Chemistry, minors in Physics and Forensic Investigations, and a graduate program in Forensic Science. Arcadia's College of Arts and Sciences offers programs in science, technology, math; humanities; visual and performing arts; communications; and historical and political studies. These programs prepare students to be leaders in a global society by providing opportunities to exhibit, perform, and publish on campus and in the Philadelphia area. The campus has a variety of outlets to support the arts and sciences, including art galleries, a literary magazine, and an online academic journal.
Essential Functions:
- Primary responsibilities include routine maintenance, tuning, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments, listed below;
- Routine maintenance of safety equipment in laboratories;
- Liaising with the institution's health and safety officer for the disposal of waste;
- Maintenance of the chemical supplies inventory in Chemistry and the small equipment inventory for Biology, Chemistry, Forensic Science, and Physics. Analytical instrumentation: Agilent LCQQQ Shimadzu/Sciex LCQQQ Agilent GC/MS Perkin Elmer HS-GC/MS Atomic absorption spectrometer FTIR CWIR UV-Vis 60 MHz NMR Smaller lab instrumentation: Spec 20s pH meters Top loader balances Analytical balances Heaters with magnetic stirrers Melting temperature apparatus

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent skills maintaining documentation for inventories and laboratory safety;
- Experience using computers connected to dedicated instrumentation.
- Proficiency with Analytical instrumentation: Agilent LCQQQ Shimadzu/Sciex LCQQQ Agilent GC/MS Perkin Elmer HS-GC/MS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Relevant training and at least 1-3 years of experience maintaining laboratory equipment in an academic or industrial setting.
