Title IX Investigator and Prevention Specialist
The Title IX Investigator and Prevention Specialist is responsible for supporting the Title IX Coordinator and Compliance Office in its daily operations. Primary responsibilities include serving as the lead investigator of reports filed under the University’s Sexual Harassment and Sexual Misconduct Policy, coordinating and administering awareness and prevention programs regarding sexual harassment, with a focus on primary prevention and bystander intervention, and assisting with tracking and monitoring trends surrounding sexual harassment in the higher education environment. This position collaborates with internal parties and departments across campus as well as coordinates with numerous external agencies.
Required Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in higher education, counseling or related field. At least 2 years professional experience in a higher education setting with some experience in conducting investigations and complaint and grievance resolution, and/or working on sexual violence prevention initiatives, is preferred. Familiarity with federal and state non-discrimination laws and regulations, including Title IX, is strongly preferred. The successful candidate must have strong organization, planning, analytical and problem resolution abilities; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated decision-making and administrative skills; ability to understand the needs of the University and to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators and community partners
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree or Juris doctor (J.D.) degree, prior investigation and/or mediation experience; experience using electronic records management software; delivery of primary prevention and training for students and faculty/staff; knowledge of best practices as they relate to institutions of higher education compliance with Title IX and VAWA.
