Production Supervisor



Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Supervisor, Assembly is responsible for overall management of department operations to include assuring acceptable safety standards, developing people, improving processes, reducing costs and driving superior customer service by ensuring on-time delivery of a quality product

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure safety of associated on the floor and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations

  • Promote a working environment that boosts employee morale

  • Supervises direct reports and ensures training needs are met

  • Ensure proper staffing of all line operations meets budget or operations capacity requirements

  • Plan department daily, weekly and monthly operations to achieve Safety, product quality, efficiency, cost, on-time delivery performance and people-oriented targets (SQDCP)

  • Work with cross-functional teams and leverage LEAN Six Sigma Management methodologies to drive processes improvement and sustainability.

  • Effectively communicate performance results to direct reports and upper management as per visual management systems (Gemba walks, daily management boards, Kaizen Events, etc.)

  • Reviews, in collaboration with planning, production orders or schedules to ascertain product data, such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations

  • Reviews and recommends priority sequences for manufacturing products by utilizing knowledge of production processes, machinery and equipment capabilities during SIOP process reviews

  • Audits production processes, products and business transactions (ERP) to ensure proper quality of products and information.

  • Arranges for the maintenance of equipment when needed as per PM schedules

  • Propose, develop and justify annual operating and expense budgets.

  • Investigate and resolve problems related to employee relations and safety incidents (CAPA).

  • Investigate and resolve production problems by using Problem solving methodologies (PDCA, 8D, A3, DMAIC, etc.)

  • Escalate to Production Manager and/or Plant Manger regarding production activities and mechanical problems impacting people or business performance

  • Develop, communicate and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures related to ISO standards, HR or any other internal operating system

  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned that include but are not limited to prepare daily, weekly or monthly reports

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • 5 years of related work experience

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience as Production Supervisor or similar role with a record of achieving results through leading people

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

  • Degree in a technical, engineering or relevant field will be an advantage

  • Prior experience and knowledge in fast paced distribution/manufacturing environments

  • Experience with manufacturing software systems (SAP, Oracle, JDE, Minitab, MS Project, Visio, etc.)

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or Higher.

  • Knowledge of world class safety systems, OSHA and environmental regulations desired.

  • Knowledge of ISO9000 standards

  • Able to routinely lift 40 lbs.
