JOB TITLE: Caf Food Runner

DEPARTMENT: The Cafe

SUPERVISOR: Caf Manager

UPDATED: February 2004

POSITION PURPOSE: Ensure all menu items are prepared to specifications, tray items and bring to server stations. Ensures proper guidelines are met with menu specifications and quality control.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Set up all garnishes for dishes, set up trays and stock bread.
  2. Stock all needed china.
  3. Polish steak knives and soup spoons.
  4. Maintain stock of china, bowls and silver.
  5. Responsible for setting up/breaking down station, at the beginning and end of shift.
  6. Assists with buffet if needed.
  7. Performs other duties as requested and assist with special guest requests, to ensure total guest satisfaction.
  8. Maintains communication between servers and kitchen associates.
  9. Maintain ticket times.
  10. Serves food to tables if needed.
  11. Assists with bussing duties if needed.
  12. Removes all dirty dishes from kitchen/server areas.
  13. Maintains standard of plate presentation.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware.

2. Ability to perform repetitive tasks throughout shift.
  1. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  2. Ability to understand verbal English to comprehend basic guest requests. Ability to understand written English to read any caution or safety notices.
  3. Ability to grasp, lift, carry, and/or transport up to 50 lbs. through a crowded room.
  4. No prior experience required. Prior hospitality experience preferred.
  5. Ability to learn all menu items.
  6. Ability to multi-task.
  7. Ability to self-motivate during slow periods.
  8. Ability to maintain composure during peak hours.
