Our team is seeking a senior 5G RF Architect, with experience in design, development and deployment of RF subsystems for 5G wireless access solutions (Fixed Wireless Access, Small Cells etc). The candidate will be working on the fast paced, and leading edge advanced wireless technologies building exciting and complex hardware/software solutions.


Job Summary


  • Ownership of RF specifications for FR1, FR2 frequency ranges
  • Ownership for RF standalone testing and RF characterization
  • Coordination of collaboration with RF partners/vendors
  • Coordination of work required for Power Amplifier (PA) characterization and linearization
  • Ownership of RF testing design and automation
  • Close collaboration with 5G System Architect and L1 Architect on defining RF specifications across HW (SoC & board)
  • Interface with customers and partners to understand variances and evolutions of requirements
  • Create technical literature such as datasheets, application notes, product brief, system specifications
  • 10-20% travel may be required

Key Challenges


  • In-depth knowledge of cellular radio standards (GSM, UMTS, LTE, NR), regulatory requirements, and carrier requirements
  • In-depth knowledge with RF architecture and requirements for multi-antenna systems, mmWave beamforming, and radiated requirements for multi-antenna systems.
  • Strong understanding of antenna array theory and associated measurement methods.
  • Experience in very high frequencies domains (GHz, THz).
  • Very good understanding of PA characterization procedures and parameters as well as PA linearization techniques
  • Very good understanding of TDD specific latencies and time-critical commands in a TDD RF sub-system
  • Understanding of calibration system procedures (coordination with the BSP for factory calibration procedures)
  • Knowledge of RF coexistence of diverse systems (e.g. active and passive systems) and spectrum policy
  • Knowledge of WiFi connectivity standards (IEEE 802.11ax, IEEE 802.11ac/ax/ad/ay)

  • Hardware Design Manager for Networking products
  • Product Marketing Managers to align on strategy and roadmap pertaining to RF
  • Chief Product Architects from customers for requirements alignment and product evolution

Job Qualifications


  • BS in Electrical Engineering or other similar discipline with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • MS in Electrical Engineering preferred (higher level education may substitute for some experience).
  • PhD is a plus
