Bartender

Summary of Position:

Responsible for meeting and exceeding the expectations of all guests visiting the restaurant. Expected to provide exceptional food and beverage service to all guests. Mixes and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to guests of the bar, following standard and signature recipes and the company's and local alcoholic beverage policies. Ability to maintain self-control in a fast paced atmosphere, with constant customer interaction.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform all opening and closing duties as appropriate.
  • Comply with standard grooming and dress code policies expressed in the Employee Handbook.
  • Greet guests entering and exiting the restaurant in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Take beverage orders from guests and servers.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the Restaurant's standard drink recipes.
  • Learns the names and personally recognize our regulars.
  • Check the identification of customers seated at the bar to ensure that they meet the minimum drinking age.
  • Record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system.
  • Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable).
  • Collecting all tips and placing them in the tip jar, where they will be evenly distributed between the bartenders and bar backs at the end of the shift.
  • Wash and sterilize glassware.
  • Regularly confirm that cooler temperatures meet company standards.
  • Change televisions channels to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare garnishes for drinks.
  • Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.
  • Clear and reset tables in bar area.
  • Present drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.
  • Conform to acceptable attendance and punctuality standards as expressed in the Employee Handbook.
  • Responsible for replenishing cash drawers to the equivalent amount as reported before shift start.
  • Receive and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Report all equipment problems, bar maintenance issues, and unsatisfactory customer experiences to restaurant manager.
  • Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies.
  • Promptly and accurately receives telephone food orders.
  • Relays telephone messages to the manager.
  • Logs all food complaints and beverage waste in our customer complaint book.
  • Treats every customer & employee with courtesy & respect.
  • In the event a liquor order is received and a manager is not present, checks the invoice in comparison to goods received, and deposits taken.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Prior bartending experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn Point of Sale system and basic guest service standards.
  • Have working knowledge of beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes.
  • Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a cash register.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 35 pounds.
