THE ROLE

The Vice President, Programs (VPP) leads TFA-NY to achieve our regional vision and theory of change by articulating and implementing a clear and compelling programmatic vision and strategy for the NY corps experience that ensures teachers deliver meaningful outcomes for students, while developing their own leadership and vision for systems change. The VPP works closely with the Executive Director and development team to tell the story of our impact to donors and champions. They liaise with our national organization, including the Teacher Leadership Development and Org-wide Learning and Strategy teams, contributing to and benefiting from the learning and resources across over 50 regions and broader organization, as well as ensuring that the NY corps experience aligns with the national strategic direction. The VPP works closely with the NY Dean of Relay Graduate School of Education to ensure corps members are working towards their teaching certification and receiving the pedagogical skill and content knowledge necessary to be highly qualified, effective teachers throughout their TFA commitment. Alongside their programs leadership team, the VPP also stewards relationships with senior leaders at the New York City Department of Education, community based and charter management organizations, to maximize our strategic impact through teacher placement. The VPP is a critical member of the regional leadership and executive teams, and leads the 30-person New York Programs Team and programs leadership team, and directly manages the Senior Managing Director, Program Design and Implementation, and the Managing Director, Program Operations.
