Manufacturing Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY
A professional leading the development and introduction of products and processes, implementing systems to ensure accuracy, and defining processes to successfully operate the organization. Provide leadership and guidance in order to promote a continuous improvement work environment and maintain a viable business entity.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Engineering support of assembly department, work to reduce downtime and assist maintenance in troubleshooting machines as necessary
• Assist in root cause analysis of quality issues and implementation of corrective actions
• Create and implement error proofing for assembly tools, machines, and crimpers
• Create and modify PPAP documentation and work instructions as necessary
• Validate assembly tools on different machines to balance assembly department as the product line evolves
• Manage design and build of assembly tools for new programs
• Set-up and PPAP new assembly tools, perform capability studies and gage R&Rs
• Monitor and manage the preparation for shipment of new assemblies in support of customer program launches
• Assist in sourcing and validation of new equipment
• Manage design and build of tube forming tools and machines
• Manage design of and/or build equipment or fixtures for new processes
• Assist product team in quoting process by estimating assembly labor and tooling costs for new programs or product design changes
• Plan and oversee rearrangement of assembly area as necessary to implement new programs
• Process customer owned tooling in order to invoice for reimbursement of tooling costs, maintain customer owned tooling database
• Manage design and build of final assembly gages
• Leads engineering functions and partners with management team, to insure effective and timely product development and introduction.
• Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering OR 7+ years automotive lean manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and conflict management skills
- Relevant knowledge in electrical, industrial, technological and mechanical engineering
- Ability to lead and work independently
