Welder Trainee



Job Description

Acara Solutions is looking for a Welder Trainee for our client located in Sacramento, CA.

  • Support activities in the shop by processing and recycling weld test coupons as directed by weld educator.
  • Welding and Shop Safety
  • The basic layout of construction drawings (blueprints)
  • How to correctly read and interpret welding symbols.
  • How to set up and operate GMAW welding equipment
  • To weld GMAW process positions 1F-4F and 1G-4G. (GMAW, or MIG, uses a torch designed to provide a shielding gas for the weld and an automatic wire feed system that provides a constant feed of the filler metal.)
  • Overhead crane operation pneumatic hand tools such as 4' grinders, straight and 90* die grinders, and air chisels
  • Meet training schedule (12 weeks maximum)
  • Meet internal and AWS quality expectations
  • Further on the job training will be needed post course completion.
  • Other duties be assigned.

Pay and Benefits:

  • The salary for this position is $17.00 per hour (Max Pay rate).


Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Welder Trainee

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Train in the fundamentals of welding and begin learning the critical skills you'll need for a welding career
  • General mechanical/manufacturing background.
  • General laborer background
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good spatial acuity
  • Ability to use hand tools and welding tools safely.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and follow instructions.
  • Able to work as a team member in group situations.
  • Able to verify dimensions.
  • Understand tolerances.
  • Basic understanding of SI measurements (Metric system)
  • Complete shop order documentation and time sheets.
